They flat out admitted in camp they weren't spending near the time on specials, partly because the offense needed so much work and partly because it wasn't Mangie anymore in charge. IMO, I think the front office thought EM put a little too much emphasis on it, especially with personnel.
It still comes down to execution, and Red Bryant looked like Rogers used to last week. He abused the kid Pinky badly, but as far as the spacing goes on coverage units, that is something that comes from repetition. They need to shore this up, they damn near lost again this week directly related to poor special teams execution.
Chalk this up to such a change in personnel, not just coaching. Lots of new guys this year in different roles.
A couple side notes: WTF is up with Pontbriand? He has had like 4 iffy snaps the last few weeks, although Maynard shits himself when it is just slightly high, he damn near jumps up for it. Also, what Cribbs just said is quite possibly the most unselfish comment you will ever see by a pro athlete. The guy wants to play specials all the time to help the team in the best way he can, that is phenomenal, Appreciate this guy while we have him folks.
