Good points! It makes alot of sense. Although the last time I saw Vick he threw a 53 yard rope for a TD that was dead money to a receiver in stride.
I STILL think we should try to
sell Philly on letting Kolb go for for an All Pro dlinemen they so desperately need and a LBer in Jackson that I've heard they would like. AGAIN, they're not STOPPING opponents when they've been getting to the playoffs and they're also not going to stay this close to being a potential champion. Our sale should be the window is open today and we have the firepower for that defense of your's to take you to that previously unattainable level.
I'll bet they dick around with McNabb for at least another year so Kolb ain't playing anyway which opens up the door for them to draft one of the promising QBs this year. They also sport the luxury of having Vick who led his team to an NFC Championship appearance vrs Philly. It's not like Vick wasn't a top 5 pick overall right? Also, it's not like Philly let him get away either so they have more plans than using him the way we use Cribbs. He's had zero wear and tear, which makes him younger than his age football wise.
Last but not least, don't think for a second Philly won't play-up how wonderful they perceive Kolb as and how important he is to their future. They feel it's gonna sweeten the deal. I'm just saying regardless of reason why - once Vick came off suspension, the only QB not named McNabb to see the field was Vick. Heckert is WELL aware of this and he knows they're playing poker. If we give them their missing links to finishing the job in the post season - they'll realize there's going to be equivalent QB prospects in the next 3 years while they're docey-doeing McNabb and Vick on game day. In fact, if we gave them our 7th overall pick - what's to say they wouldn't draft Clausen and get their QB hope for the future right back? They didn't draft Kolb until round 2 so I don't think they feel he as THAT unreplaceable as they want to present it for trade leverage. It was Vick that is a top 5 pick hanging around at garage sale prices. We need to play that reality up considerably if we want to pull this trade off. Heckert looks like he can sell pit bulls to cat lovers.
