That's because FGs are clearly the preference in Shurmurville. Why score MORE points when you could score LESS? Or, even better, NONE AT ALL?!?

And when Brady Quinn was only a slightly lesser evil to DA that wasn't promoting anything more than boos. I think a little research will show you Charlie Frye beat your Kyle Boller head to head in our final game of Frye's rookie season. And then in 2009, he beat out Boller for startsies in Oakland. There's a reason you pronounce one of those last names like the sport that features gutter balls.

I just wish you wouldn't dedicate your entire existence on this board into 1 thought for any/all threads. If you would take the time to LISTEN to Dan Fouts when he does our games instead of thinking you understand NFL passing games so much more - I think you get there's more than 1 reason we probably have the fewest plays over 40 yards rushing or passing.

There was a time when you joined my thinking in that Julio's speed was a gear our offense lacked and longed for. Let's forget we have Cribbs for a second - which of our WRs can take a short slant route some 40+ yards for a TD? There's a bunch of reasons defenses can load the box besides our QB. Anyway, Fouts alluded to many of them during the SF game where Shurmur opted to throw numerous slant patterns into the traffic jam over the middle while Fouts added he hadn't seen 1 receiving route downfield ALL game as the 3rd quarter ended. Too much dink and donk or as we refer to it more yuck than yac.

When our offense looks BEST in the very first preseason game with the least amount of coaching only to see it regress to epic lows ever since - I'm not really excited about our coach's ability to get the most out of his players. For shits and giggles, let's just pretend you are right that all of our problems are with McCoy. The solution becomes as easy as starting any QB on the roster not named McCoy and we're anchor free right? I mean you're talking epic suckage 40 times a day every day so you're 100% certain that's the only change and we have a terrific oline, outstanding Receivers and we're all setskies. Trust me when I tell you I'd love to believe it's really as easy as 1 quick personnel change every bit as much as I wanted to believe it's been as simple as replacing every OC since 1999. There's 1 major problem with that thinking - here we are all over again like we haven't taken 1 single step forward.

I can assure you a QB that got spoiled with Mater Dei caliber teammates and then went onto USC where they stockpile pro football teams with talent that coming to Cleveland isn't going to be anything like playing football for Mater Dei or USC. It's going to be the culture shock of Shawn Lauvao and Jason Pinkston have his back like Brutus and Cassius had Julius Caesar's back. When we don't have the footspeed to make defenses feel like they need to get 9 men out of the box, we're gonna get ALOT of inexperienced QBs in Shurmur's scheme killed. Teams with speed on the perimeter can score by accident sometimes - we're not even doing that. Aren't you always the one that told me QBs at the University of Miami were products of utopian surrounding talent so it was tough to project them as pros (ie; Gino Torretta)? While I agreed, I also informed you a program transcender from nothing to prominence is WHY a Bernie Kosar is a gotta have. His WRs were Stanely Shakespeare and JC Penny - neither of whom made it to the pros so he was alot more like Andrew Luck without the LBer build.

Let's not pretend EVERY draft has at least 2 Peyton Manning sbecause you have another hometown hero we need to hear about as often as Jimmy Clausen was our only answer at #7 overall. That kind of decision to avoid Joe Haden for another QB that wears peroxide in his hair severely overlooked the Ortonic numbers. He wasn't anybody's victorious secret but your's. It felt like you had us all in some Air Supply video that took some outrageous detours. I'm finally understanding why it's so compelling to prefer Barkley to Luck - turns out Luck played high school ball in Houston, which isn't in your local newspapers like Mater Dei High School. Geee, who saw this one coming? Matt Leinart even got handed Larry Fitzgerald, Anquan Boldin and Steve Breaston but he never handled the speed of the game. Lucky for you, he'll get season #6 like your Alex Smith required season #7 to prove he can be an effective game manager in the perfect situation. You're not giving McCoy 6 or 7 seasons, you gave him 1 OTA session in 2010.
NFL owners don't give GMs mulligans for making guys Jimmy Clausen or Joey Harrington franchise QBs within the first 7 picks. I will confess to predicting Charlie Frye was a better bang for the buck than Kyle Boller, which is easy to do when I was correct. I didn't think freckles and throwing 1 pass from a knee made the enormous difference that I was assured of. All this said, I'm not posting to pretend I have the wrong day job. I'm just reminding any/all Boller and Harrington fans their NFL careers would end for any novice GMs without a SuperBowl under the belt. Hence, that's why I'm TRYING to get our buddy Shep to join us FANS in the world of we don't lose meals for the family if we peg a future NFL player wrong.

If Alex Smith deserves 7 years and 4-5 Head Coaching career funerals while Matt leinart is getting season #6 to re-warm some groins, we can at least admit most QBs in their 2nd seasons would suck here with our offensive team speed, 2 man oline, and Metcalf up the middle on 90% of the first downs this year. Hard to throw TD passes when you don't send a bunch of slow receivers past first down markers as the HOF QB Fouts informed us in 3 quarters without 1 Receiver downfield. Alex Smith, because he played high school ball in SoCal/San Diego had countless excuses for his bad play for a #1 overall pick. If a guy can sport a passer rating of over 97, I think it warrants at least 1 playaction pass out of pocket and into the end zone over handing off to a backup FB. Worst case scenario nobody is open and the mobile QB can run or throw it out of bounds as opposed to fumbling because our HC/OC didn't know Marecic wasn't even in there. Please don't confuse that with Jim Harbaugh knowing EVERYTHING that's going on around him.

I think those are his sisters. I actually posted it to remind myself that soon as these girls graduate they'll be fleeing Las Tijuana for Casa Del Phoenix to get away from the illegals and I will have more hot blonde girls to mack on. If only AZ had a beach, we keep landing all the bootylicious blonde girls we just don't have a dang beach to get them into Wicked Weasels on.

Actually those plays demonstrate Exactly where we are as a team.
1)Shurmer has zero faith in mcCoy, does not trust him to throw for the win and runs three plays with ZERO chance to score.
2) the play call of the TE running, not cribbs on a sweep but the TE running was the most bizarre play in ages. not only does Shurmer not repeat plays that work(two screens got 13 and 17 yards) or a bomb ..he routinely runs up the gut for 1 yrd gains setting up second and long...he reminds me of Carthon calling plays.
3) The browns are a sloppy team. since week one when the ENTIRE coaching staff sat on their hands and let the bengals score on a free play and not call a Tmeout to the horrid TE running play Sunday I have little faith in this Coaching staff. We let a top special teams coach walk and we stink there as well(until Cribbs begged to be back on the coverage teams)
4)There is no way do i believe mangini Ryan would not have had a MUCH better record than this clown. Year two of the Holgren era and we are again the Joke of the NFL.
