We're changing Homer's name to Lazarus. This is freaking unreal: My wife just got the call from the surgeon, the very surgeon who told us Homer's liver (all three lobes) were so riddled with cancer it would be perfectly humane to euthanize him on the operating table.

The full biopsy results are back... and it's benign. All of it. He has no malignant cancer whatsoever. The problem with blood/fluid in his abdomen was from a benign tumor so old it was breaking into pieces, which could have been deadly.

My wife actually had called him back AFTER we'd said to continue on... because she was having second thoughts that we were dragging Homer along for our own benefit. I finally made the decision to continue on because the surgeon wasn't really helping that much. That's how close we came... and we never would've known, I bet. They wouldn't have bothered with the biopsy, which was for the purpose of continued treatment (chemo).

I'm pretty sure this is the most Hallmark Movie-ish event of my life. Just boggling. We're all kinda giddy.

GRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!

Sadly I knew they( those front office assholes) wrote the season off in august when they did almost nothing to bolster the oline( they whistled past the graveyard even when Stienbach got hurt and deliriously sang the praise of Pashos and Lavoa, blocking matadors.
They stood pat at RB, feeling safe with the oft injured hardesty and counting on Hillis to do it alone. he hasn't and our running game is manned by castoffs and is GARBAGE
They let a very solid blocking FB go and handed the job to a plodding rookie, hmm how's that working out?
They stood pat with the worst set of WRS in the NFL, crowed that magically since it was their 3rd year Robiskie and momass would blossom, a big turd here as well.
Oh and we even sat on our hands when the Broncos front office dolts let go of a very solid WR for a 6th, whom has started well for the rams and scored a TD Sunday.
WE let a thin secondary and LBing corp stand pat..

WE hired yet another rookie head coach who called a bizarre sequence of plays in the redzone sunday and obviously has no faith in McCoy whom I never see audible. This bung hole never leaves in extra blocking on pass plays even though he has a sieve oline and McCoy get drilled weekly.

In the End the front office is to Blame.
I did not like mangini yet the SLOPPY level of play would not have ever been tolerated by that guy. This coach calls plays that harken maurice carthon. This is Holmgrens hand picked toady, mean coach and he is in over his head.
We are getting bounced around despite the cream puff schedule and now enter the extremely painful segment.

In the end it will be everyone pointing fingers and mccoy will be blamed and we will be drafting yet another QB to ruin with a HC who has no clue. we are a rudderless squad from the top down. how is the mike holmgren era looking now?..very Carmen policyesque

That's a great bit of news Shep! Now i'm being serious about this, you should really consider making that into a movie or pitching it to a TV Producer for an episode.

Very jaded post Akron...

To revert to the OP;

I think Colt's going to be okay, I don't think we should give up on him at least not this year. NEXT year, if he's still the starter and he's playing like this at this time, I'll be the first to say we need a new quarterback. Colt's young and he's got so much promise. He has shown some arm too which has surprised many of us. I think Shurmur needs to be less conservative and let Colt take some risks. There was that deep pass he threw in the endzone to Greg Little that was broken up. It was a near TD/Pick kind of pass but that was an example where McCoy went for it.

I can't imagine what goes on in Shurmur's head but Colt just needs to keep doing what he's doing, he's playing solid football, his QBR is near 80 again, and he's got his career TD/INT ratio to +.500 at 16/15. I predicted 15-20 TD's for the season so he's getting close to that prediction. I think Colt's right on track given the offensive maelstrom this year.

We had a pretty good draft, and I'd like to start seeing some results.
Fans already looking to next year and I don't blame them.
I think we will have things to be excited about that we lacked last year and we have some real facepalm moments just like last year.
It's going to be tough.
We aren't Barking Hard for nothing.

I think many people stated flat out that if Colt threw for 3000+ 15-15 td/int and a 60% completion, they'd be happy. isn't there a thread in here somewhere....

There was during the off-season Oz.

I was hoping for 3200 yards out of Colt but now I'll be happy with even 2500 yards this year out of him...

I said over 60, over 7, and 2/1 would be enough... but you'd expect more like 65 in a WCO featuring an allegedly super accurate QB. I wanted to see 3300 and 20/10, frankly.

There's something to be said for Tannehill in two as a compromise. McCoy starts the opener and has every chance to keep the job and prove that it wasn't on him in 2011. But the guy behind him might be even smarter... and has huge physical upside, both arm and wheels.

ESPN's AFCN guy sums it up: It's tough to evaluate McCoy, or to absolve him. Quotes a source in the AFCN who says he lacks arm strength and accuracy. Says Browns might have a tough decision about taking a QB with one of their first two picks.
