Dude's a dime a dozen. He's only good because of Phillip Rivers. Everyone knows this.

He'd cost a 1 and a three, which is a lot.

But you know what? Based upon what is probably falling to us at seven, I'd pull the trigger. I'd much rather have him than Dez Bryant, DUI's and all...

That's a NICE arguement by you Rich! Great stuff!

Would the experienced WR Jackson be worth our Jackson and Shaun Rogers? We can jack up the All Pro thing about Rogers as trade leverage while we remind SD they didn't stop the Jets in post season football. Jackson sweetens that deal and prevent us to overcommitting the draft picks. Rogers can STILL play and a team missing that 1 big play or 2 in the post season can get if from a healthy Rogers. Without Rogers, did we extend a much better Cincy team to OT? No.

Jackson ia a HUGE target that emerged past the growing pains MOST young Receivers go through. He had a killer good year last year. Rich gets 2 thumbs up for the innovative idea even if he's got that middle finger ready for any such mentions of Shaun Rogers. Why not get some exchange value for Rogers instead of waiting until it's depleted?

I see DQ as a draft day signing by someone who was looking at a specific player that didn't fall to their 2nd round slot. The 3 day format makes this kind of trade more logical. I really think we end up with another 2nd rounder and DQ is gone Thursday night/Friday morning.

And there is our WR...we can either trade for Jackson or use it on another rookie.

Thing is, we are in full rebuild...so I don't think we go after a vet WR...but grow our own. I wish I could remember where I saw it, but I remember Holmgren saying he was NOT looking at vet WR's at some point.

Heckert: “We Don’t Need a Veteran Wide Reciever”

Written By: Rick | Category: Cleveland Browns | Comments: 35
I have to be honest, I’ve been a one track mind kind of fan lately. I have very little confidence/interest in the Indians right now, which is sad. Spring training is usually one of the most anticipated events of the sports calendar. I haven’t gotten real wrapped up in Browns draft talk either. I’m sure I will at some point, but the Cavaliers have had my full attention. However, one thing caught my eye this weekend while skimming through the twitter feed. It was a statement from new GM Tom Heckert-
Heckert: We like Massaquoi and Robiskie; those guys can be good enough that we don’t need to add a veteran WR
Hmmm. I needed the whole context here, not just a random tweet. So I went to the Browns official site and tracked it down. Here’s the portion that deals with the receivers-
Mangini said he’s excited to see a natural progression from Year One to Year Two from several other young players.
“Typically after first year there’s a jump,” Mangini said. “It’s rare when a young guy come in and lights it up. But in the second year, guys start to settle in on what they have to do, we expect to see strides. We had some young guys at the end of last year that showed potential. Marcus Benard, Brian Schaefering, Evan Moore, Mohamed Massaquoi, David Veikune, Alex, Brian Robsikie, I’m anxious to see all those guys.”
Heckert said he’s impressed by what he’s seen from Massaquoi and Robiskie and doesn’t believe the Browns need to pursue a veteran receiver. That doesn’t preclude them from doing so, but the new GM has high hopes.
“Massaquoi played well last year,” Heckert said. “Robiskie is a good player, too. We really liked him in Philly. Hopefully those guys can keep coming on.”
So even though WE may feel it necessary, maybe it is just adding another rookie or two to the mix and let them (and a new QB) grow together!!!

I love V. Jackson. If we can get him for a pick and a player.. not a bad way to go. I don't think SD is going to turn him loose though. Who else do they have? Why would they destroy their offense for a draft pick and a defensive player like Rogers or DQ Jackson. Both Rogers and DQJ are guys we currently still need IMO. I am not yet convinced Rubin is "the man" and Rogers can really dominate despite the opinion of those who do not like him. DQJ..while not the best LB in the league.. will improve with better line play in front of him and better LB play around him.. He is at least adequate for now.. We are not exactly stopping the run either..

I like the idea of VJax.. I think it will take more than a pick and a player to get him. He's worth more to SD right where he is. If you give them the 1 and 3 tender..they still may not even take it and sign him to a long term deal. .. If I am SD.. you will have to pay HUGE to get this guy. I think this is a pipe dream.. it's a good dream..but I don't see this being remotely attached to any reality of actually happening.

Right after that article, Dawg, the Browns started poking and prodding around vet WRs and the OBR says it's a major focus right now... that they have so many WR plates in the air, it's tough to tell which is most serious.

I think they'd love to add a vet WR, especially one with some speed. Lance Moore in the slot?

Dawg brought Lance Moore up a week ago Shep. It's a good idea but alot of people didn't like parting with a second round pick for him.

Yeah...the Lance Moore thing really bombed. I almost feel that with most of the guys out there...resigning Furrey may be just as good a move as it costs nothing.
