Thanks everyone for the warm thoughts and prayers. Didn't know where to put this so I just added on here.

Kidney transplant surgery on Tuesday went very well. My donor went in first then they got me in there and added her kidney to my 2 bad ones. New kidneys get implanted in the groin area so I have a nice big at least 12" incision being held by around 30 or more staples from around belly button height to below the waist line.

My recovery went so well they discharged me in almost record time - I was there for surgery Tuesday and out Friday afternoon. The Mayo Clinic did me right. I'm in some pain but it is tolerable and now I have the lifelong pills and a lot of follow up visits (4Xs/week at first) but a small price to pay when you think about it.

Something to think about - when getting my last blood matching draw the day before surgery the tech taking my blood said something prophetic. She said you never know the people that touch your life 15-20 years ago can come back to maybe save your life down the road. So true! My donor was a woman I met and became good friends with while in the Navy stationed in Spain in the early '90s. I'm very grateful and thankful to her for the greatest early Christmas present I'll ever get.

So happy you came through it alright Jax! A truly amazing friend you have, and rather heart warming I must say to know people like that are still out there.

Here's to hoping you have the speediest of recoveries!

God Bless you my man! I'm thrilled you received an early Christmas gift like this.

I absolutley adore the refreshing spirit and competitive fire you armour up this board with. If it's any indication of what you bring to your daily life - my money is on you.

I wish I read this thread sooner. You hang in there and we'll all be keeping you in our prayers.

Awesome news Jax! I'm happy as hell to hear it! My uncle had to have a transplant back in the 1990's. Unfortunately he continued his wild partying ways and it didn't last but a few years. Take good care of yourself and your health bro, squeeze every last ounce of time out of your transplant as you can!

I do have a funny story for you that I hope brings a smile as you continue your recovery. I live out west and we're a few hours behind the east on the time. Anyways I came on here at about 5:30am my time as I woke up and tried to work off a medicated fog(head/chest cold). What do I see? A thread about Thanksgiving. Yep, for a moment you got me Jax, I honestly thought it WAS Thanksgiving and that I dreamed the last few weeks while sick! Hahaha!
