Here's the problem with making it about reps. As you can see in JasonJ's intercetption thread, you hinder the development of your young QB. And Why doesn't Norwood deserve the reps? why don't we really see what he can offer at a full time basis? Why not see what Mitchel can do with more reps? I unfortunately believe it's because decisions are being made based of the fact that Heckert drafted Little in the second round and needs him to improve fast so that one of Heckert's draft picks doesn't look like a bust. In other words, it's not what is best for the Browns over all, it's what's best for Heckert. And I had this feeling way back in the preseason and prior draft when they it seemded to me Holmgren and Heckert were more willing to blame all the offensive problems of the Mangini regime on coaching.

The truth about Little is Heckert made a large wager with an esteemed colleague that Little would be the best WR of his class. He would be MVP within 2 years and make the Pro-Bowl. If Little busts, Heckert loses his little side wager. Fuck the Browns. Heckert doesn't want to lose his pocket change (which is probably more than my yearly salary). |

IMO we had to realize that their would be a lot of growing pains with Little and I said early on that I didn't think he should be the featured receiver.......just too much too soon. You can't write him off because you had to know he would be on a real large learning curve. If there were veterans around him so the learning curve would be more normal instead of force fed then I think the opinions of him would be different. He isn't and won't ever be a #1 WR and he shouldn't be thought of as that. Fact is that the two veterans (MoMass and Robo) that were suppose to produce until he matured as a WR took giant steps backwards. That said, there is a hugh gap between where Little is and where he needs to be and force feeding him the ball isn't working. Time to try to feature Cribbs and give him a shot at making some plays because throwing 5 yard hooks and slants to Little shouldn't be a big part of your game plan. Yes, it's also time to see where we are with Norwood, Mitchell and Cameron. Hell, throw the ball down the field and let a receiver try to make a play. Worst case scenario is an interception and it takes the place of the eventual punt. As for further evaluations of McCoy, I think it's a safe bet that he may get carried off the field before they can find out any more this year about him. With the weapons he has and the way this offense if being run that might not be the worst thing that could happen to him and his chances moving forward. |

I am of the opinion that not only did our previous coach squeeze every last drop of talent he could out of our players, but he also did the same with his coaching staff. Mangini demanded excellence.

Seems like it's just going through the motions now. I see too many people standing looking down at the pile after a tackle and not getting up off of it. I see too many people getting off the ball on offense and defense. I don't see a receiver fighting for the ball. I don't see holes for the backs to run through. Sometimes it's more about playing with an attitude and just beating the guy you are suppose to beat. Sorry, not seeing it. |
