LOL. Hey why not since GM's and HC's are actually lining up at the door and around the corner to come to Cleveland out of the goodness of their heart to turn around the franchise. I mean this is Cleveland right, football royalty? It isn't as if we switch out HC's and FO's every 3 years.......oh wait.
Getting rid of Tom Heckert is the single most panic stricken button I have ever heard pushed. Guy has brought in 43 players and 15 new starters since 2010, and while 6-7 of them are still stop gaps, they're better than the crap the previous 3 regimes ever brought in.
So yes lets get rid of Tom Heckert. Brilliant. Consider the panic button pushed. Although you are the only one touting this a 3rd season of a rebuild (and many think he may have been better off starting a year earlier) the FACT of the matter is this is the FIRST year with a WCO alignment from top to bottom. You have your timetable and the FO has theirs.
You don't get to arbitrarily decide when the rebuild started, especially since the only players still here from the Mangini era are Mack, MoMass, Maiava, Schaefering, T Brown, Benard, E Moore, R Ventrone M Adams and S Paxson. 2 starters! That is 10 guys on a 53 man roster that are still here when Eric was in charge of transactions. News flash - that is a huge turnover and thus subject to the term REBUILD. 43 guys have been added under Heckert. Maybe you don't know what a rebuild looks like.
And Mike Holmgren? Ha don't make me laugh. All he needs to do is sit down for 30 minutes and calmly & honestly explain his evaluation of where the team is at and the Browns fans will eat it up. Why shouldn't they since he is the smartest person in this building since Paul Brown. I would have no problem if he decided to change HC's but he won't do that, and he won't do that because his coach needs a QB. Mike did what he said he was going to do -- evaluate - and I am sure once he sits down and talks to the media again all the warm and fuzzies will return for most of the fanbase. Most.
And that is just the facts.
The team has underperfomed to my expectations by huge margin. The only thing keeping me from losing my mind is trust in H and H. Shurmur is a huge disappointment to me, both in his decisions and handling of certain situations (his playcalling could be Colt, but who knows). But even to my consternation and frustration he - like Mangini - never gets off message.
