Default Shurmur Continues to crack

Quote:
Browns Coach Pat Shurmur Ends Press Conference Poorly

Posted by LG on December 6, 2011 at 6:31 am.
The Cleveland Browns head coach Pat Shurmur showed Monday at his weekly press conference what a poor sports he is. When some of the reporters reportedly rolled their eyes while Shurmur was trying to explain all the progress he sees with this years Cleveland Browns, Shurmur said that’s it and ended the press conference. Shurmur showed he is losing his tolerance as an NFL head coach.

Instead of taking more questions Shurmur walked out. Just a couple of weeks ago it was Pat Shurmur who said it is a responsibility to talk to the press when asked about Greg Little not talking after the Cincinnati game he had dropped so many passes in. Just two weeks later it is Shurmur who acted unprofessional and walked out of the conference. A team takes on the personality of the head coach.

Shurmur could have stayed there and fought to explain his points, however it was easier for him to walk out. How can Pat Shurmur stand there and try to convince a pool of reporters his team is making improvements when his Browns couldn’t even get into the end zone in the first half of Sunday’s game? The Ravens ran all over the Browns on both sides of the ball.

It is difficult to stand in there and have a press conference after you get beat like you did on Sunday. That is part of the job as a head coach. If you can’t take the heat maybe it is time to get out of the kitchen. Now Shurmur has to get the Browns ready to travel to Pittsburgh to take on another Division rival. Maybe Shurmur could take his team and walk out of this game and save players like Colt McCoy the chance of injury.

It is becoming completely apparent Shurmur is having a tough time handling the head coaching job. It must be the pressure of trying to be the offensive coordinator as well as the head coach. Sometimes trying to do to much has you lacking at your job. Could that be the case with Pat Shurmur?
Browns Coach Pat Shurmur Ends Press Conference Poorly

Can't wait to hear the dwindling Shurmur Soft fanclub defend this one. Author of the piece "LG" is spot on and you know what they say, when the going gets tough the Holmgren coaching tree gets going.

I think this guy is falling apart as we speak.

All I can do is laugh at this shit anymore. This franchise may be the best I've ever seen at hiring incompetent, lackluster HC prospects. Shurmur is lost and if Randy Lerner had any sense he would just pull the plug on this whole Shit Coast experiment right now. I don't think a OC would help this guy out, he just isn't made to be a HC in the NFL. Simple as that.

Yeah it's no different than RAC. Yet another HC that reached his ceiling at a coordinator position.

Haha, I think we've all heard that phrase a little too much in Cleveland...

Shurms is going to get fired anyway, unless he pulls a rabbit out of his hat. I don't want to blow it up again but this current Shit Coast experiment bullshit is going to set the Browns back even farther...

I agree, and btw, LOVING the Bane avatar. I think it might be time for a change...

Anyway, yeah I really don't want to get ahead of myself but the way things are going Shurmur's job's in jeopardy should we head into next year playing like this.

Edit: And I'm not even exaggarating. I don't know if the team has ever looked this bad since the ugly Palmer years. Even in the RAC days...

We had a pretty good draft, and I'd like to start seeing some results.
Fans already looking to next year and I don't blame them.
I think we will have things to be excited about that we lacked last year and we have some real facepalm moments just like last year.
It's going to be tough.
We aren't Barking Hard for nothing.

Thanks EE, I personally can't wait for TDKR!

If I was Randy Lerner, I would throw Holmgren into that "job's in jeopardy" crowd too.

When you really think about it... how many coaches have had success being the HC and calling their own plays? I'm sure it's a very low #.

well one guy on here told us it was no big deal and showed us all the "sucessful" HC who called their own plays.

Also, Shurmur has one guy to blame in all this. Mike Holmgren. Whether or not the results in the end showed it last year. SOME fans saw glimmers of hope last season. Then when Holmgren fired Mangini he was basically saying that what was needed to turn the corner on this franchise was better coaching. Because he didn't get rid of the GM, and they really didn't make a big splash in the FA market. So it was all about coaching according to the way they built the plan for this season. I am pretty sure Holmgren told Shurmur "I'm the man around here, everyone is in awe of me. They'll understand when I tell them it takes time to rebuild, you've got a year or to to learn on the job".

Well Pat, when your President sets up the offseason to basically pin all the problems on coaching, then if you're the next guy in, people are going to look to your coaching mistakes when things go wrong. They aren't going to want to hear about young players, poor past drafting, or injuries.

OH I'm sure there are HC that were successful calling their own plays, but I doubt they were calling their own plays their first year as HC, and in a short lockout year with no mini camp and a an abbreviated training camp.

This season had clusterfuck written on it from the word go.
