The NFL Sideline Concussion Assessment Tool

If the docs performed it thoroughly, I'm thinking Colt would not have gone in.

If the docs did complete the assessment, they should have the documentation.

But it seems to me it would take longer to fill it out than Colt was on the sideline.

You could see the close up of his face when he came back in and his eyes were glazed and kind of yellow it seemed. He basically had no expression either.

That kid was three sheets to the wind.

This isn't the first faux pa by our medical staff either. There was a period of time where we were staph infection city after all. How do you just wash over skipping a concussion test. I feel like the NFL should be fining our team for our own stupidity! How does NOBODY on that sideline go "Maybe we should keep Seneca out there Pat?" when they look at Colt, and then think of that hit he took...

It really makes me shake my head.

We had a pretty good draft, and I'd like to start seeing some results.
Fans already looking to next year and I don't blame them.
I think we will have things to be excited about that we lacked last year and we have some real facepalm moments just like last year.
It's going to be tough.
We aren't Barking Hard for nothing.

Wow.

Shurmur made a HUGE deal about how rigidly disciplined his staff is regarding concussion protocol. How his medical staff ABSOLUTELY followed that protocol and that Colt did not exhibit any signs of a concussion.

Now we're hearing that, in effect, Shurmur's version of events is a flat out fabrication?

If true its just another example of the job being way too damn big for Patty at this stage.

Ah, the trainers should have that tool memorized. And you don't have to think it Gal. You read that list carefully it's obvious Colt shouldn't have gone back in. Amnesia is a no-go by itself- Colt says he doesn't remember the hit. The bottom part is a word recognition test- I say 5 words, and you repeat them, and wait 5 minutes & repeat! Means Colt should have been kept out for at least that amount of time. Shurmur trying to tell us no one on the sidelines saw the violence of that hit, and think, gee, maybe the kid just got concussed?

How is it Shurmur's fault??? He's coaching, getting plays to Wallace, its not his job to administer tests and evaluate Colt. He didn't complain about anything other than his hand, obviously he can comprehend repeating 5 words if he was calling plays 3 minutes later. And whats these reports he didn't remember any of the game??? Listen to his post game press conference, he was describing plays and situations in the game fine there...Speaking of press conferences listen to today's of Shurmur, disgusting, we have the dumbest most idiotic media in all of sport, hands down.

Shurmur is responsible because he is the HC, NOT just the OC. Something many of us have said was a mistake to take too much responsibility as a rookie HC. Hiring the medical staff and making sure they DO NOT SEND PLAYERS OUT who are not ready is HIS JOB. Knowing the rules and did you read where it says "wait 5 minutes and repeat", you don't think Shurmur can tell time as he's calling those two plays and know it hasn't even been 5 minutes yet?

Everything that goes on on those sidelines on game day is ultimately Shurmurs responsibility. If he's not ready to take the heat for all of it, mybe he's not ready to be a HC.

This.

The "buck stops here" as the saying goes. Its his job to ensure that the medical staff is set to follow all protocols and in a position to do their job. The fact that the evaluation may have failed to occur wasn't Shurmur's direct "fault" but clearly he is accountable indirectly as the "CEO" of the sidelines as Golfer pointed out.
