I remember I was very much in a boat with a very few when he started DA over Quinn and when he ran such a dull offense and when he stood up for Daboll.

Sorry, but I don't remember all these closet Mangini fans back then. I remember most of the board pissing and moaning about him being an idiot for not drafting Sanchez or giving Quinn a better shot. Fact be told I said I could understand Homgren moving on from Mangini and bringing in his guy and I was joined by a big group that said the sooner the better. Don't remember too many saying "just one more year".

You see, the grass is always greener to a lot on this site and that seems to apply to the past as well as the future. We have so many fans jumping on and off the bandwagon here that we should have designated stops and a schedule so people know where and when they can get off and get on.

I don't care for the direction of this team, how the coach has looked or the product on the field but I certainly don't remember Mangini having us on the cusp of the super bowl. I don't know if this rebuild will work or is going in the right direction, maybe just slower then those here want it to go but I do remember those games and teams under Mangini. The view in the rear view mirror isn't always clear like the past isn't always remembered as it really was.
I was an E.M. supporter.... Depending on the day. Hey, I admit that. On gamedays after losses i'd throw out the "fuck it, fire 'em" stuff for an hour or two then by Tuesday morning I was gladly promoting E.M. About the only one I was really against was Rob Ryan, actually.

Hell I was even king of washing H&H's balls on this forum for over a year straight. You'll notice i'm still pro-Mangini and for the Parcells system(which has dominated the last decade in the NFL) and grown anti-H&H. I was anti-Shurmur from day one so i'd say i'm pretty consistent.

I tried supporting mangini. Mostly in year one.. Some things I did not like about him. (not going into the items here) .but tried to supoprt him like I have supported every coach we get.

It was tougher to support him in year 2 mostly because I knew he was a dead man walking with Holmgrne here. I never understood why Holmgren kept him the second year.... I say that because it's no mystery that the philosiphies were never going to mesh... I aired my issues with Mangini game to game..but tried to support him overall. It was really only after he left that I let all my issues with him fly freely.. No big loss..

Shurmur is here and I am trying to support him now too.. Some things I don't like about him either..but I'm trying.. How long.. i don't know..but I think it's premature to start kicking him to the curb. I think 2 years for a new coach is pretty much automatic.. at that point you have to earn the additional years regardless of your contract. I think Shurmer signed a 4 year deal. I have heard posters say Holmgren mentioned a 5 year plan..So what does that mean in regards to Shurmer and his 4 year deal.. Guess we'll all wait and see. Holmgren so far has only said he's here next year.. So.....

I found it the opposite of Mangini, I hated the hire, hated him during season one. He started to turn me around during the second year, there were gripes, our offense... it's the same status quo really and I'm bored with the old "Mangini vs Now" debates.

Shurmur's here, like Sez said but I'm done trying to support him. I've seen all I needed to see after this game to know he is not going to evolve into an adequate head coach. However, like Mangini, I'm going to give Shurmur 2 years. That's what I said when we hired him, and I don't want to take back my word but man... there have been some ALARMING signs this season from not just the HC but all the way to the top that make me fear for this team in ways NEVER have.

We had a pretty good draft, and I'd like to start seeing some results.
Fans already looking to next year and I don't blame them.
I think we will have things to be excited about that we lacked last year and we have some real facepalm moments just like last year.
It's going to be tough.
We aren't Barking Hard for nothing.

I hear he may bring in an OC or a playcaller.. So i am curious how that will play out. personally I don't think it's a real big deal.. but who knows.. it may make a difference for the better.. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Holmgren pretty much validated in his presser earlier this year that they were going to bring an offensive coordinator, but preliminarily said that Shurms would probably still call the plays.

I can't imagine Shurms giving up play calling responsibilities unless forced to, and I can't see Walrus forcing him to.

It would be a huge asset to have another offensive mind in there to help Shurms, especially on game day with scheme adjustments and weekly prep. I am not sure why this wasn't done this year but apparently they wanted to get a year under their belts to evaluate first and then go after someone. Or it could be they didn't like any available candidates.
