Default Colt McCoy allegedly done in #Cleveland

Local radio talking heads were saying this morning that the word is Papa McCoy is not happy and has been talking more. Saying things along the lines of, "they don't have Colt's back", "they don't cater to Colt's strengths, or play to the strengths of their personnel", "Colt doesn't feel wanted or feel as if he is a focal point for this coaching staff or organization as a whole", "Colt wants out".

They were saying they believe Colt will never play for the Browns again.

I'm paraphrasing of course, but just an FYI.

Two things I'll say about this. I don't trust radio talking heads. I trust them less than print reporters if that's possible. So I wouldn't take what they say at face value.

But also, It's not like Colt has a big say in the matter. If the Browns don't draft a QB in the 1st, they'll be keeping him as their starter. And what's he gonna do, refuse to play?

If they draft a QB in the 1st, then likely his dad was right the organization didn't support Colt, but he didn't control that. I don't believe he has any "cout" to "force a trade".

Some of this I think is Colt's dad also trying to soften the blow when the Browns do draft a QB.

I like Colt, I don't want us to draft a QB next year. But what Colt's Dad has to say has nothing to do with the decision in the end.

If I had to place a wager, I would bet on the side of "McCoy never starts again" in Cleveland.

This will be the second wasted year by Holmgren on the 2 most important employees impacting gameday: head coach and quarterback.

Unreal.

Oh I don't doubt that, I'm just saying it's not going to be because Colt doesn't want to start here.

Understood. I wasn't responding to your post as much as the general breeze in the air regarding Colt McCoy as a Cleveland Browns' quarterback.

I won't believe it till I see it but I won't be surprised if this franchise ruins another QB.

Shit is tiring.

I said he wouldn't play for us again in the Arizona thread.

Of course Daddy still needs to keep his two cents out of it. Unless he is Colt's agent/manager.

Shurmer can leave on the same train and take Holmgren AND Lerner!
Burn it down sell it and lets get some football people in here.
Let Colt's dad talk to Dog Pound Mike and see if he can get the point across...

Agree Golf. Radio heads will throw any thing and anyone into the fire to stir things up--mainly their ratings. For all we know Dad's still upset with the circumstances surrounding the hit. Colt doesn't even come across as a primadonna so the quotes seem to be his dad complaining as opposed to Colt actually saying them. Gotta a feeling Colt knows quite a bit more about the goings on in the organization than his dad

And, unless we draft a qb first and decide to throw him into the fire, Colt will be starting next year. I'm sure there will be an evaluation thread after the year but I feel Colt has performed well given the players around him.

Sounds good to me Danamal.

I wouldn't be surprised if the shock jockies end up correct on it. The not even bothering to give a vote of confidence in their pressers kind of said it all, didn't it? McCoy is gone and this season's scapegoat.

Lots of people writing Colt off and really can't argue with the logic. He was MH's project but got thrown into starting sooner than expected. Plus it's looking like Shumur isn't really interested in him as his starter. I guess that's one way to explain some of the atrocious play calling this year. I guess the draft will solidfy the speculation. If Colt is off the team gone do we go after one of these golden boys or do we bring in a free agent QB and draft another project? Do we draft a golden boy AND a free agent QB to start while we bring the rookie along? Sorry--more speculation. Too bad if Colt is out. One season starting with below average talent really didn't give him the shot he deserves. And I just like the kid. I see him in the league and contributing to some team for a while.
