Default Star Players Staying in School - Barkley staying for senior year.

This salary cap for rookies is going to have a major impact on all levels. More kids will consider staying for their senior year since there won't be sick money to sway them away which will give the college fans better football. Better football at the pro level with another year at the college ranks. These players might even earn their degree since they're staying. Sure, there will be plenty of guys leaving because they want that money as fast as possible but may hurt their pro careers with less game experience. Guys like Barkley will strongly consider staying since he's got a chance for a national title and Heisman which will only help his off field money--commercials, pro gear contracts, etc. Luck didn't win either but didn't really suffer because of his potential. Obviously he'll do fine. Other up and coming players who might reach the "elite potential" level will consider doing the same. I think it's a win win all the way. Not to mention all that extra cash the teams can use to their benefit.

I moved this to the Browns section simply because it has major implications on our draft status. I figured people would be all over this. Barkley is indeed staying in school. RG III won't be there when our 1st pick comes up ...so it looks like Colt for another year, unless they get a guy like Tannehill late in the 1st round who I don't know a whole lot about but could be a project.

I'm guessing Barkley heard the Browns were considering drafting him........

And yeah Richardson with our 1st pick and Tannehill with our other 1st rounder is my nightmare I've seen coming all along.

Being smart over making money for now, he's gotta know the NFL's gonna be throwing it at him soon enough and maybe next year he can stand out in the WR class where as this year it seems to be the Luck or Bust show.

We had a pretty good draft, and I'd like to start seeing some results.
Fans already looking to next year and I don't blame them.
I think we will have things to be excited about that we lacked last year and we have some real facepalm moments just like last year.
It's going to be tough.
We aren't Barking Hard for nothing.

Matt Leinart wasn't a beauty school dropout either. It almost makes you wonder if these QBs know they can't be the SAME successes outside of the only Professional Football franchise LA has. If RGIII hears the same thing about Cleveland - I wouldn't be surprised to hear he enters law school ahead of schedule. He's a smart kid that didn't go to college to take pottery classes. Cleveland has become best known as a cemetery for each of the following jobs: QB, Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator. Anyone that has ever tried got brutal feedback and criticism while it's always seemed like "don't you dare hold the front office accountable for why we're seeing what we're seeing." Okay, I won't DARE question why we STILL need to draft a QB, hate the offense and contemplate whether or not we have the right Head coach and Offensive coordinator. 1999 was only 12 years ago so what was I thinking expecting/hoping for more than 4-5 wins again?

It's been wonderful watching guys like Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, and Donovan McNabb get drafted by other franchises. And when given the choice between Scott Milanovich with gambling issues vrs a good character QB like Kurt Warner in our expansion draft? We took the kid that suspended for gamblingwhile the Rams rode Warner into Superbowl Sunday. It was even more comforting to see Warner and Brady squaring off on Superbowl Sunday while I needed to feel comfort knowing we had Spergon Wynn with a resume including a 47% completion rate one season in a conference that doesn't play any defense.

Now that we're epicly screwing up the Colt McCoy thing - I could see us reaching for Tannenbombs against our gag reflexes. I saw that kid play 2 games and didn't understand why anyone would fuss over the kid. It's not like he transcended Texas A&M to another level. Last game I saw, I witnessed the reg flags of 3 INTs to only 2 TD passes vrs an opponent with 4 or 5 losses. We might be way better off with Case Keenum or the Oklahoma State 28 year old kid a little later IMO. This may not be fair but the kid at Oklahoma scares me too. None of their QBs have translated well to the next level for any long term success. Bradford may or may not change that. One thing is for certain, we're hearing he needs weapons because apparently only first round QBs deserve such an excuse.

I think the kids staying in school for another year only benefits the NFL. They get another year to develop and get stronger.

I hope more QB's stay in school this year.. Colt get's next year and if he proves he's NOTthe guy.. then the following draft will be stacked with talent for us. We use this draft to get some talent around the QB and then if it's Colt or whoever.. they are in a better position to succeed.

I'd like to see us take a late round flyer on Kellen Moore personally. Let Colt continue to start and see what Moore or McCoy can develop into.

Only if that late rounder is of the 6th or 7th variety. Adding another noodle armed winner isn't going to make us any better.

5th 6th or 7th is actually where I am hearing he will go yes.
