| well then u obviously don't know how to read because he specifically says "Not going to JUST draft receivers, backers etc. with first picks" emphasis on "JUST" because they are looking for receivers... they are just not going to limit themselves if a great player in another category is available.

| This is December- my BS detector went off the scale. Sure, let's just keep on drafting more defense so that pathetic excuse of an offense has a chance to win games 3-0.

Thanks for sharing that link Riffer. If we go DE first, I could see it being Ingram. You can pretty much put Blackmon in a St Louis Rams or Minnesota Vikings uniform so people need to understand that with where we will be picking. It's possible RGIII could slide so Heckert probably wants to keep any such interest quiet so there's no trading up ahead of us and/or preventing unnecessary public insult of the young QB we already have. The OBR can take care of all the mean spirited insults anyway. I hear he's been ordained as the second coming of Charlie Frye there. I'm very thankful our board doesn't have that mean spirit and impatience. Not saying the kid is Brees or Aikmann; but surrounding talent mattered for both of those guys a whole heap-a-hope-a! I seem to remember another dirty PA football program giving Aikmann some concussions when he might have been holding onto the ball too long waiting to exploit favorable match-ups that were non existent. That Dallas fanbase was certain JJ was on crack for not starting their version of Seneca Wallace in the form of Steve Walsh. Nobody in San Diego wanted Drew Brees when Eli Manning and Philip Rivers were on their door step. Not only that, but when he injured his shoulder - SD didn't want Brees again. The only franchise willing to let him drive them to a Superbowl Championship was New Orleans. That being said, there wasn't a more deserving franchise for his elite services. Meanwhile, San Diego is 7-7 while Brees enjoys the luxury of throwing rainbows and jump balls to Jimmy Graham in the red zone. Pretty cool? You bet!

This is just my 2 cents and it could be wrong. I think when Heckert's favorite WR in the draft last year joined Cincy, he traded down to add Phil Taylor plus a 1st round pick in 2012 plus a couple more draft picks. A VERY refreshing evolution of our draft process - ADDING picks to current and future drafts. A little Philly-osophy vrs Phil-osophy. The place Savage went to help out with scouting college personnel was Philly; and coincidentally they traded away 2 third round picks plus their first round pick with Denver to move up and take Michigan's Brandon Graham in round 1 back in 2010. Just out of curiosity, has anyone seen 1 wonderful highlight of that kid saving Philly's defense? Me neither. One can view that Taylor pick anyway he/she wants to. I know one thing is for certain - I've NEVER seen D'Qwell Jackson as good as our DTs have allowed him to be in 2011. He's always seemingly blocker-free to be far more effective vrs the point of attack than he's ever been. That means are Big Uglies are as ugly as we need them to be. IF we added a Gamecock like DE Melvin Ingram, he's VERY stout vrs the run and brilliant at rushing the passer. Adding him would give us Sheard, Taylor, Rubin and Ingram across the front with backups like Paxson and English/Mitchell/Benard. My guess is Blackmon will be wearing a Rams or Vikings baseball cap before we draft for the first time. Meanwhile, we have another first round draft pick for any studly WRs that may be on our doorstep. I HATE to think we take what WAS a strength of the team with the RB position and make that where we prioritize a first pick even if I like Richardson a ton. I think there needs to be some understanding that we need to turn a prong of attack into prongs of attack or were spinning our wheels in grimey mud. Oggy was a complete blessing out of nowhere just like undrafted RBs like LeGarrette Blount and Arian Foster became. The coming out party for Peyton Hillis wasn't THAT long ago to where we should waste any time of the RB position whatsoever.

This makes me think of our debates last season during Silly Season about drafting BPA and how a lot of us seemed to think Heckert "got that". He's got a stubborn knack for falling on 'his guys' but he's a football mind none the less and knows how to build a football team. We've been saying this off season will show us a lot about the management of this team and where we're going. I think that's true, they're kind of in the eye of the tiger now. The luster with the fans is gone now, it's time to act.
__________________ BROWNS 2012: Its Weeden's job to lose, it was the second we took him #22 overall. We had a pretty good draft, and I'd like to start seeing some results. Fans already looking to next year and I don't blame them. I think we will have things to be excited about that we lacked last year and we have some real facepalm moments just like last year. It's going to be tough. We aren't Barking Hard for nothing. WOOF WOOF WOOF! ![]() |

I think we must re-sign Hillis and bring the entire RB squad back intact so we don't need to draft there. These guys can get it done.. especially if we get a passing game that backs out the 8 in the box. Maricek has to improve. Period. I agree Blackmon does not get by St. Louis. The good news is there are a handful of guys in the draft who are 6-3+ and can run. If for some reason St. louis goes another direction I think Blackmon falls to us. I don't see Minni, Tampa or Jax taking him..but I could be wrong. I don't know the exact draft order yet, but those look like the teams that could possibly pick before us. Looks like a fairly good draft class this year for WR's. Here is CBS sports top 10.
