| If it was, I don't think the cameras would have shown him shouting over at Wallace as they were running off the field at halftime. Wallace is supposedly a WCO veteran QB well aware of 2 minute offense so I think there was a sense of empowerment gone wrong there. All I know is Shurmur looked heated.

Well, it may not be an UPGRADE at QB, but for a guy who has been a 9 year back-up, it sure isn't much of a downgrade either. Right now, I'm thinking it's about 80/20 that we take a QB in round one next year (even though I like Colt and think he's had a lot of bad circumstances this year.) |

I'm betting we don't take a QB. Once the emotion of this crappy season settles, the brass will conclude rookie Colt had no off season with his new head coach, no playmakers, no Steiny, and a third string running back most of the season. Far from a fair shake. However, Homgren loves drafting QB's. So, you never know.

Cribbs and Hillis played great today! We finished with 1 TD scoring drive and remember the other TD was a return from Cribbs. I would hold off on making RB a priority in this draft when that was our clear-cut strength today.

Any way we could draft a real coach with one of our first rounders?

Hillis is gone. Not too many folks would balk at having Richardson on this team. Playmaker? Yes.

I HATE the pick in this era and based on what we already have at the position. We never had trouble running the ball on one of the best defenses in the conference (undefeated in our division). Another thing about a WCO RB is he has to have good hands out of the backfield. Hillis had 60 receptions last year so I'm not making nearly as much sense of the need to chase him away for Ingram's replacement at Bama. Sorry. Random questions and considerations: What round was Arian Foster drafted in? His backup Tate was drafted in the 1st round. What round was Ben Jarvis Green Ellis drafted in? How about ANY RB in Green Bay? Frank Gore was a 2nd round pick right? Darren McFadden and Felix Jones were both 1st round picks that have been chronically injured rarely helping their offenses. Meanwhile, Willis McGahee was drafted in the 1st round; and he currently plays in the Florida Gator spread offense. That was terrific until the last 2 opponents just crammed every defender in the box and asked - how's your passing game looking? How many games does DeAngelo Williams and Jon Stewart combine to win every year in Carolina? Now that AP has an ACL injury, guess who rushed for over 100 yards? Toby Gerhart and they didn't need to draft him in round 1. Joe Webb replaced their overrated 1st round QB to erase the deficit Hans Christian Ponder-son caused. I just don't see how giving a guy like Peyton Hillis his walking papers so we can spend our 4th overall pick on Richardson does 1 thing for our speed/threat on the perimeter. Right now we always face a minimum of 9 men in the box so playing musical RBs to pretend we have studs terrifying secondaries puts us right where we are today. That is inviting overcrowded traffic into the box with single match-ups outside we never win. I really need you to make me feel better about this if that's our road map. I'm always reminded this is a passing league so we do we want to stay stuck on pause unable to throw at secondaries? If so, what was the FREAKIN compelling need to bring a WCO here and fire the last coaching staff? Don't look now but you wanting what we did extremely well in 2010. I was told Mike Holmgren NEEDED to get away from that kind of football so I don't see us spinning our wheels at RB to keep us with just 1 prong of attack. Do you know WHO started at RB for Mike Holmgren the year his Packers won the SB? It was a guy I coached against when I was a student Teacher in the Syracuse area. His name was Dorsey Levens; and he attended Notre Dame on a scholarship. However, he wasn't talented enough to get playing time there so he transferred to Bobby Ross' program at GA Tech before the Packers drafted him in a mid round. Long story short, he was their main man at RB and a perfect WCO back who could catch passes out of the backfield. Meanwhile, Edgar Bennett was their watered down version of Tom Rathman. Riffer's X, not to be confused with Riffer's Ex, has a nice idea if we add Richardson in hopes of making Hillis this generation of Tom Rathman. BUT, again we have golden opportunities to IMPROVE our outside matchups that give our QBs chances they haven't had yet. All the RB thing does is keep the handcuffs on our QB while 9-10 men in the box will deliver a pounding to a 215 pound RB. My question is WHO is going to be our threat that removes both Safeties from the box? The former QB covering our game yesterday talked about this. Running the ball was never a problem. It was a clear-cut strength so I don't see how Richardson is going to be the messiah here. New Orleans didn't even miss Ingram when he was out; because they prefer pongs (plural) to 1 prong of attack. We can stay stuck on pause with a 1970s approach; but you're going to have to make me feel better about re-inviting overloaded boxes next year when we complain we can't throw down field. I agree Richardson is a stud; but we already have a stud RB who could allow us to address countless other glaring needs. Hillis averaged over 4 yards a carry yesterday as he finished with 112 yards on 24 carries. Doesn't anyone else want to see why we brought a WCO here? I'm never going to understand why the organization is willing to give itself a hernia to remove the 1 thing we liked coming into 2011.
