Default I am almost done

I am to the point where I am really close to not being a fan of ANY Cleveland sports team. I am not excited about this upcoming draft at all, I could care less. It seems that certain players have pulled out of the draft because they had a chance of being drafted by the Browns. And earlier tonight, I watched the Cavaliers get the equivalent of getting raped by a AIDS patient with no condom by the officials. It seems like someone, somewhere, has a grudge against the sports teams of Cleveland. It seems to me that the Browns are not only in the NFL cellar, but locked in a dungeon of the NFL, never to be seen again. I am also beginning to believe that the lack of Cleveland sport success goes deeper than just lack of talent and/or coaches. I have never seen any sports city more snake-bitten more than the city of Cleveland.

In my opinion, we have enough talent on this team to pull out a win over the Stoolers this coming Sunday. If I see anything short of a hard fought game by the Browns that leads to a victory, I am done. Delete my name out of this site's database, because I am done as a Browns fan. Nothing personal to any of the posters here on this site. In fact, there are some really good posters here that I have a lot of respect for and I thank you for the kindness that you showed me. I am just tired of these bumbling idiots, fumble and stumble about, trying to figure out the game of football in Cleveland. It really hurts me to have to do this because Ohio is where my heart is and I couldn't go on rooting for another team.

I don't have a choice about being a Cleveland fan. It's a sickness.

One win against a division, and our most hated rival, isn't asking too much. If they win, I will give the Browns another chance. This is part of a New Year's resolution I made eliminating as much stress out of my life as I can (i.e. watching the Browns lose every year) and to spend my time doing more worthwhile things. I want a better life and the Browns bring me no satisfaction. Instead of watching games, I will be out riding my bike, or visiting relatives. Anything other than watching the pain and misery that is the Browns (edit) Over the past decade, they are showing me no effort into putting a winning team on the field. So I am done putting in effort as a fan.

If sports affects you on a personal level that much, I suggest finding other outlets for your time and passions.

Neo,
I feel like this almost every Monday; and by Sunday your buddy Flugel usually has his game face back on. Part of that is I'm not the brightest apple in the orchard. The other part is I have an unconditional bond to the REAL Cleveland Browns that brought about the proud tradition many here are clinging onto by a thread (including myself).

My dad raised me up as a Browns' fan so there's fond memories of him taking me and my brother to our first game vrs the Steelers. Our tickets actually read where it says seat location - Standing Room. This was the game Turkey Jones power-slammed Bradshaw. he also took us to the Denver game where they switch end zones after someone threw a battery on the field.

Growing up in Rochester, NY where the Rochester Red Wings were the farm team to the Baltimore Orioles - MANY of us liked the Orioles as our favorite MLB team and a significant amount of us preferred the Browns to the bills since Cleveland was only about a 4-4.5 hour car ride away (closer than NYC by a good hour or so).

Today, I'm frustrated that the Browns are winning as frequently as the Peter Angelos business in Baltimore. I see a GIGANTIC disconnect between the proud traditions created and the current business plans of owners don't honor any such linkages. If it weren't for the wonderful traditions Angelos and Randy inherited, they probably wouldn't have very many fans/customers remaining. There's MORE to running a great business than blindly opening up a wallet in hopes of spending as little time as possible on making the business competitive. One COULD look and examine what his competitors are doing to kick his ass every year. He'd have to care though. ACTIONS soeak louder than words. Randy's job is to KNOW who the best Front Office guy would be for his business. We NEVER acknowledge this while we can't wait to blame 1 more Head Coach or QB for ALL of the problems while in the process guys like Policy, Savage and Holmgren are NEVER held accountable. Some of the Cleveland media sucking up for access could probably tell us the flavor of Mike Holmgren's ass right about now. Unfortunately, EVERY Head Coach and GM/VP comes here knowing the owner doesn't know anything about running an NFL business so they don't exactly have to sell ice to eskimos to explain anything they do.

I don't think Randy Lerner knows if this franchise is heading for an iceberg or the promised land. That would almost be okay if we played in the division where the Rams play but we don't. I'm holding out hope that there is such a thing as the law of averages. I think owners like Peter Angelos and Randy Lerner are the biggest reasons their franchises suck. Sorry, I gotta call a spade a spade until 1 of them actually wins far more consistently than they have to date. Until then, we'll keep alternating we need a new head coach with we need a new QB every other season. Ideally, it would be nice if Lerner sold the franchise to somebody that WANTS to beat Pittsburgh every bit as much as his loyal customers do. That's my biggest wish. MANY of us were here before Randy Lerner and Mike Holmgren. MAYBE both parties ought to invest more time understanding the shoes we've walked in long before we had to hear an overconfident delivery of a message insinuating Cleveland fans just need to be patient while Mike says he plans on winning in the 5th year of a 5 year plan. Getting excited about that requires me to confuse the difference between patience and stupidity. Even worse, that makes me a village idiot with a freedom of speech in a perfect place to vent frustration. God bless every damn one of yuz for putting up with me. I know that ain't easy; but a lot of yuz are good at cheering me up or giving me that Ditka shoe in the fanny when I need it.

Thanks Tom. I am 30 years old right now and most of my early years were filled with turmoil. Browns fans run strong in my family, unfortunately it wasn't until about 10 or 11 years old, when my Dad taught me about the proud history of the Browns, that I was able to become a full time Browns fan because I didn't live with him until then. I would watch the Browns before then, but I never really understood the history behind the team until my Dad taught me. I had about three to four years to be a true fan before they moved. I have been a fan since and probably will always be a fan deep down inside. I am sure last night was just a semi-drunk rant of mine and will continue to follow the team even though they are making it really hard to.

Exactly! You are the generation I expect Randy Lerner to lose if this Arena Football franchise doesn't take a turn for the better sometime REAL soon. If I hear 1 more "we're gonna but this ain't a quick fix" or "Cleveland fans just need to be patient" from 1 more hotshot too proud of his football resume to care WHY Randy Lerner blindly overpays his ass - I'll begin to understand Randy just kept the Browns buried in lieu of resurrecting them.

ACTIONS speak louder than words, which is why we're always talking draft instead of playoffs in December. If this remains sour, Randy needs to do the right thing and sell the franchise to someone that will do a better job.

This season has been tough for a lot of fans to digest, Neo. I don't think I will be jumping ship simply because there's not really any other NFL team I like even close to as much as I like The Browns. Even if I was writhing with anger toward this team (and I've had my moments...) I still couldn't jump ship. I want to experience the ELATION when ever someone with the patience and skill turns this team around. I want to be able to say that I have waited however long because it will be that much more special.

Pathetic excuse, sure, but it's the truth. I love this team, we all do, and I know I could never change my colors.

We had a pretty good draft, and I'd like to start seeing some results.
Fans already looking to next year and I don't blame them.
I think we will have things to be excited about that we lacked last year and we have some real facepalm moments just like last year.
It's going to be tough.
We aren't Barking Hard for nothing.

See, Dan, if I were to give up on the NFL (and I've felt like doing that as well) I would probably be more likely to go back to watching CFL football. NCAA College Football is getting bigger here in Canada but its still easier to even watch the Canadian University Football (I forget the name of it...) or CFL football than that, so I would probably do that.

That's a commitment I'm not ready to make.
