Default Josh Cribbs: Quietly our best player once again.... and best WR

Numbers dont lie folks.... Last year Josh showed some serious flashes at WR with Seneca Wallace at the helm, as well as catching a few Colt Mccoy TD's in traffic. This year Josh had hi s best year at WR yet... and it actually was pretty good!

41 receptions/518 yards/ 4 TD's/ with a 12.6 avg.......

Now im not saying its a pro bowl performance, but what I am saying is that on a legit team with a real offense, he has a 1,000 yard season with 8 touchdowns. He's the perfect Cleveland slot guy. He did some really good things this year, made some great catches, and just put in work.

In my honest opinion I really think we only need one wide out. A #1 guy, with Cribbs in the slot, Little outside, and Norwood at #4, I think our core can be one of the best.

Not to mention every time he does something on the field our team gets a huge momentum boost, everyone drinks his kool aid.

Agreed. Think of all the production we missed out on with Cribbs by not realizing his potential as a slot receiver and not finding weapons to take heat off of him.

Josh is the heart and soul of our team ...and also our most dynamic player. How greatful I would be to see our intellectual giants who run this offense to use him even more effectively and try some creativity. It also might be nice to get a real ST coach and some legit ST players in the fold, but we don't believe in that sort of thing anymore, sadly.

People who want to trade Cribbs away just make me shake my head in disbelief. Anything less than a 1st rounder would be highway robbery.

I love how a few (not many) actually criticize this guy as a receiver. Nobody argues that he's an elite receiver but he fights for every catch and fights for every yard after. And his versatility does nothing but add to the potential of this offense if they actually would use it.

But bottom line is his passion for the game, the Browns, and the fans. This guy deserves a winning team and to retire a Cleveland Brown.

Never give up hope, JD. Here's why we'll always have a chance as long as he wears a Browns' jersey. And just because it never gets old

That play NEVER gets old!!!!

Too bad at no point during the season did our Head Coach, Pat Shurms McSqurms didn't notice this (like many of his other Mr. Magoo moments) and gave Greg Little every oppportunity a rookie WR could want.

Understandably so, wanting to see what we have with Greg Little ESPECIALLY after he spent a year away from football. Get him a head-first experience of the NFL game at the sacrifice of offensive effeciency.

Cribbs hasn't just proved it this year, he's flashed it over the past two seasons as well that he's above and beyond our best WR threat while fans and media alike have tried to downplay his abilities the guy flat out gives it all on every play and he's GOOD.

Lets make a check list, of the WR's we have/have had over the past few seasons, Cribbs has displayed the following IMO:
- Best hands of any of our WR's
- Fastest WR we have
- Runs, not perfect routs, but consistant routes IMO
- Good leaping ability and ability to make athletic catches (UNLIKE MoMass... holy crap)
- PLAYMAKER, HELLO PATTY .... HELLO!!!!

It doesn't make ANY sense how a Healthy Josh Cribbs didn't lead this team in receptions... Colt threw a hell of a lot to Greg Little yet, Cribbs co-lead the team in TD's this year (With the Moorecelain doll)... I just don't get it. Cribbs would probably have had much, MUCH better numbers if we weren't playing the Learning Game with Greg Little all year. We have to KEEP Cribbs, and keep Cribbs HAPPY. We need him for this team because he IS the heart and soul of this team. The FANS need him.

Probably due to Colt either locking in on Little or being coached up to throw only to certain guys on certain plays.

Cribbs isn't just a talented WR, think of the impact he makes on special teams. Not just in returns but also in tackles. I dare say we win the Oakland game if Cribbs is on the kickoff coverage unit.

I don't care what it is, we should never have started Greg Little as much as we did this year IMO, you work him into the NFL game, give him reps up the ass at the slot, maybe a token start here or there. We should have been playing more of Norwood, and seeing what we had with the OTHER hopeful youthful WR's on this squad but we put all of our attention on HECKERT'S prized 2nd round pick. I get why, I just question if it did more harm than good? We won't know for the long run. IF Little can grow in the off-season/pre-season. Cribbs WILL have another decent year next year and likely a better one if we can improve some of the talent on this team.

and PGL I like your idea of a depth chart of Legit #1/Little/Cribbs(slot) and Norwood but its sensible because Cribbs runs better routes to work in the slot but I don't know if Little would be much to take heat off of the guy opposite him on the field -s- I just dont know if Little is a starting NFL WR at this point in his career. He is a work in progress.

I have been hard on Cribbs (and the whole WR corpse (pun intended).. Cribb made strong progress this year; especially in the 2nd half of the season. It's year 7or 8 for him.. so it's too bad it took this long..but he was our most consistent WR this year and provided some fire to the offense. I think Little can work himself into an amazing 2 guy.. We MUST get a legit #1 on this team..

Cribbs has always got a lot of flak but I thought even last year with one foot he looked good and the season before when Mangini started to integrate him into the pass attack, a lot of fans were like "WTF get Cribbs out of there!" but I thought he looked good, Mangini must have also or he wouldn't have tried it out...

He's the heart and soul of this team, I think he won a lot of fans over this season with his consistent play and making plays when it mattered. Cribbs didn't just have a game here or there where he was making big catches, he made plays damn near every game. Shame we couldn't build on it but the Miami game TD (the pic above) was a classic TD and one of the few Kodak moments of the year for this team to be sure.

Josh Cribbs is good, but he needs to know his role.

No one can stand up to the legacy of Phil Dawson.
