Default 2012 Jimmy Cornell Draft

Hello guys I am Jimmy Cornell! I have done a lot of draft work last year, and already have my outlook up for next year:

http://www.postonnews.com/news/corne...the-offseason/

FREE AGENTS-

Mario Williams, DE, doesnt fit with the Texans at all now. The Browns could have a good offer for him to bite on. Jabaal Sheard and Mario Williams on the ends? Excuse my french but Damn!

Robert Mathis, DE, a quieter DE than Mario but hes a quality one from the Colts.

Matt Flynn, QB, Browns could let him and McCoy duke it out in the preseason to see whos better and ultimately be the starter.

DRAFT-

#4 Pick- JUSTIN BLACKMON, WR. The rams need an offensive linemen desperately or else Bradford might die! Fiesta Bowl anyone? JBlackmon 8 catches, 3 TD's, 186 yards. This guy can play as good as Calvin Johnson.

#25 Pick- LUKE KUECHLY, OLB. A bright young linebacker looks to do work in the NFL and could be a household name.

2nd round- Right Tackle

3rd round- Cornerback REPLACING Sheldon Brown

4-7th rounds- BJ Cunningham, Devier Posey, people that look good! WR's and RBs... Look at the steelers- Antonio Brown- 7th round pick.

CORNELL: Cleveland Browns: What to address in the offseason

Posted by Jimmy Cornell on December 22, 2011

With the Cleveland Browns season coming to an end, it’s time for some analysis on what talent the Browns need to address in the upcoming draft. Today, the Cleveland Browns would have either the 4th or 5th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft come April. If you’re a Browns fan you need two things to happen, the Browns MUST lose out the season and the Buccaneers must get a win. The Browns will head to Baltimore before coming home to play the Steelers. We won’t need any luck to lose those games, considering both of those two teams are elite AFC teams. Now what if the Buccaneers lose both of their remaining games? When you have the same record heading into the draft, the analysts look at the strength of each teams schedule. The Browns only wins have not against quality teams. Time to look back at this season for the Brownies. Right now the deal struck with Atlanta looks to be a perfect deal for a young team trying to add on large bulks of talent. As forecasted, the people we drafted have been proven to be quality talent. Phil Taylor and Jabaal Sheard are apart of a dynamic pass rush duo that Cleveland has not seen since the “golden days”. The 3rd round pick Greg Little has looked like an amazing talent at times, and sometimes a very bad one. Overall the flashes of brilliance he has shown, like the 70 yard touchdown this past week versus the Cardinals leads me to say he is a good 3rd round pick. But still he is not a playmaker that can make catches that lift his team! We found out how much improved our defense was, ranking the 9th overall, but we also found the need for a linebacker to stop the running game. One big thing we are going to do is scrap Sheldon Brown, our current veteran in the secondary. Now that Joe Haden has shown his talent the teams the Browns are playing attack the loosely defending Sheldon Brown. Overall the defense was a nice improvement, but the offense was much more saddening to watch. Peyton Hillis has proved to be a greedy player like many others, but also an injury stricken player. Though I still see the flashes of him being that talented player we saw in 2010. I think we should just cut our losses with the unhealthy Montario Hardesty, but keep Ogbonnaya for depth. The last thing I will say about the offense before I look at how we should address these problems, is the gaping hole in the right side of their line. If we seriously expect to see the offense start clicking we need to give our quarterbacks more than two seconds.
Come April, assuming we have the #4 pick and we have the #20 Atlanta Falcons pick (from the past draft) these are my picks. The fourth pick the Browns should select should either be Justin Blackmon, Wide Receiver from Oklahoma State or Trent Richardson, Running Back from Alabama. I will explain why we should pick them. If Justin Blackmon is still available he should be our first choice. Right now the Browns lack a player that can get open almost every play, and bring the long ball back to Cleveland. Justin is similar to AJ Green in the fact that he can turn his body in so many ways you would be astounded. A player that can catch every ball and even make up for a QB mistake, is what we need. But what if he goes to a team in the three picks before us? Although I do not forsee this it leaves us with another option. That option is Trent Richardson, the running back who played side by side the Saints Ingram as a freshman (and was better than him!). He possesses the ability to make holes with his talent, and like every other SEC running back that has come out of the last few drafts, he has the good chance of becoming another elite running back. If we do this, I honestly think we should still keep Hillis. Just imagine if we put him back at his natural position of Fullback. Hillis was a big part of blocking for Darren McFadden at Arkansas! We could use him in many situations, as a 3rd down back and he is great at blocking for the QB. Now come the #20th pick we need to address our defensive achilles heel. That is the run game, which ours came in just about dead last. The solution, is getting a player that seems to be similar to Clay Matthews in Luke Kuechly who plays for Boston College. Paired with Jackson and Gocong, we now have an elite core of linebackers. Unfortunately for the elderly Scott Fujita, its time for him to retire. Now on to the second round! The Browns should use BOTH picks on offensive linemen. Get a right tackle and right guard! Now we will have an actually pretty strong line if we draft the right linemen! Steinbach should be back from his back injury too. So Thomas, Steinbach, Mack is a solid left side, we just need to finish off the right side! If we get these things done you will see an offense that clicks, or at least has the time to! With an offensive line and playmakers, Colt McCoy can show us who he is. No matter what you think of Colt, we should NOT draft another quarterback. We simply cant afford to waste a pick on a quarterback every year. Now going into the third round, we need to go for a Safety to replace Sheldon Brown- who is the only reason why we don’t have the best secondary in the NFL. Rounds four we will have two picks again. I say go for more a defensive end to replace the patch player, Jayme Mitchell. The rest of the picks can be depth players, like the offensive line and running backs.onds to make decision, and a hole for our running backs to run through!
This has been my first prediction for the NFL Draft in 2012, coming next April. I also think the Browns should go for some veteran wide receivers in free agency, which I think Heckert has suggested. My forecast for the Browns 2012-2013 season will come in April. Just remember you have to go through the rainstorm before you can get that sunny day. The Browns sunny day is coming friends, at this rate, its coming. On my last words I say leave Holmgren and Shurmur alone, for Rome wasn’t built overnight. It may seem like its been forever but Holmgren has only been with the Browns since 2009. That season Mike only evaluated what he was dealing with. The next year Holmgren and Heckert drafted new players but it wasn’t his team yet. Finally this past year Holmgren put HIS coach and implemented his scheme. So this is really the first year of the Holmgren era. But look up Cleveland, just because you cannot see the progress yet, use your indicators! The Browns last two drafts have been defensive, and that’s the side that we have improved on. Though great football teams need an offense. That’s the thing they will address this coming offseason, and with that said. I expect a surprising 2012 Browns team! Playoffs? Read my article in April.

Welcome. Don't know if it's really smart to dictate positions to be taken by rounds vs taking the best players available based on needs. Maybe a great RB is available @#35 and maybe a great RT prospect is there in the 3rd round and none of the corners are exciting prospects.

I like your thinking that WR, LB, RT and DB are priorities but you can't just force a pick by position because you need one. At some point you have to take the best player available that fits the system and is a need, of course.

How about a plan B is the Rams take Blackmon?

Let's qualify this by saying we don't know at this point if any of these needs will be addressed in FA.

Read my long article. Plan B is take the best available, Trent Richardson. If Both Richardson and Blackmon are gone then that would be nuts..

If we get the RB, we would probably have to use our falcons pick for a WR like Michael Floyd or Kendall Wright.. but those both could be much earlier or later but I like them

Looks as of now the Browns could target Mario Williams. He fits perfectly, and with Jabaal and him on the ends.. Wow!!

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1...market/page/11

We should also target FA Meachem from the Saints. We are one strong draft and free agency away from playoffs..

If we can get Mario Williams, that would be awesome for us. We could use that pick of a RDE in the draft on a WR or an O-Lineman.

Here's a good reason why Mario Williams COULD land in FA.

The guy who replaced him this year after he got injured? Connor Barwin. Yeah, that Connor Barwin who had 11 1/2 sacks this season.

Resigning Hillis to be a FB in this offense and then drafting RB Richardson from Alabama #1 is intriguing.. No one could boast a backfield like that. WOW! We would still be able to go WR with our 2nd first rounder, get a DE and RT with the next 2 picks and snag up 2 LB's in round 4 to come in.. not to mention free agency. Interesting..but I doubt that would happen.
