Is anybody out there about tired of this guy? I was so pumped about him in early camp, then he started playing soft the last couple preseason games, now he full blown looks like he doesn't want to be out there. I swear against Pit, he wanted out of the game. I thought he got another concussion because someone tackled him. Then he was easily taken down before he got out of bounds, but he looked like Ozzie would look now running after the catch. He also had a great opportunity on a pretty well thrown pass by Wallace in the end zone and jumped like Greg Little or Laimbeer. MoMass is the only guy who can jump, but he jumps before the ball is there or even if the ball isn't there.

My point? The Browns may have thought it was a good idea to sign him up, but it looks like to me he is a guy collecting a check and awaiting law school after a couple more seasons. He is an absolute liability in blocking and really can't be called a TE, but more of a slow slot guy. Fact is, Watson is looking injury concussion prone too and may not be able to be counted on for next year. Cameron is in no way a blocker, and even trying to use these guys against the likes of Harrison to get rag dolled is bad business. A true blocking style dual threat TE may be another need for this team too, and who would have ever thought that prior to the season?

When you have soft coaching, players who don't have enough self discipline grow soft as well. We saw it with a number of players this season.

I think we saw the effects of no offseason this year more then soft coaching. Sometimes players have to take responsibility for their conditioning. coaches can't wipe their noses all the time.

That said, Moore though signed this year to a new contract doesn't have any of it guaranteed for next year. I think Cameron has learned enough and shown enough that he may very well replace Moore, if not at the beginning of the season then at some point during the season. Moore doesn't block well and shows no interest in learning to block or play special teams. Sorry, but with all his potential there's a reason he has floated around as FA that other teams don't want. He spent equal time in Shurmur's and Mangini's doghouses.

Moore wants to be a slot receiver and doesn't have much interest in lining up as a TE and doing the dirty work of the job. On most teams backup TEs are core special team players. Maybe a reason are special teams aren't so special. That I blame on the coaches.

Moore says his greatest desire is to become a complete TE.

It would be nice if he showed it in practice, on special teams or in games. He blocks like a girl. LBs and DEs throw him around like a rag doll.

I think he has been told, while sitting in the doghouse, that he is a TE and if he wants to play he has to embrace being more then just a receiver.

Wallace says he wants to be a starter but I don't see that happening either.

You might be surprised at who is starting next year.

To Moore's credit he knows his weakness and says he plans to make that a priority this offseason. What I can't comprehend is if Moore blocks like a girl and is worse than the 3 other TEs that got as much or more PT than he did ...why did we just pay the guy?

THIS!

Another player we paid for being average is Gocong! Yeah he made the goal line stop against Pittspuke and played pretty well the 2nd game against them but what else did he do that we saw fit to give him more money?

Gocong >>>> Moore, IMHO. I can think of many good Gocong plays, but only 1 or 2 good Moore plays.

Moore acts hurt nearly every time he is tackled. This is football in AFCN Ev.

I think we are going to have to live with this TE crew next year. Watson has another year on his contract and hopefully he'll be healthy. He is the best overall TE we have and has played very well for the mostpart since we brought him in. Alex Smith is a free agent again.. a much better blocker than Moore and Cameron at this point.. Not sure if we bring him back again or not.. he did catch the ball better this year. I think Cameron has the most upside but needs to bulk up to be a better blocker.. I think he can be even better than Moore as a reciever once he gets some experience behind him.Cameron can absolutely jump through the roof. .. But I don't see us drafting or bringing in a free agent.. unless it's Smith again or someone like him if we again decide to keep 4 TE's. . We kept 4 TE's this year.. next year that's again likely..but you never know. The simple fact is.. none of the TE's are on the level of Watson.

Sorry Riff, I can't pin it all on Moore, especially when most of this team has looked soft as a down comforter all season.

Well said. This WHOLE team except for maybe Josh Cribbs took on the persona of thier HC this year. Soft, disorganized , and overwhelmed.

Heck the crowning moment to me is the fact that Wallace felt it was HIS job to call a play and ignore the coach screaming in his ear to clock the ball. Does that tell you how much even HE respects Shurmur?

Now that being said. Once a guy like Moore starts to act like he has, it's hard to bring him back on the team he is on. They usually need a change of scenery for the reality of the NFL to sink in.

So while I agree it's Shurmurs fault ro what Moore developed into, unfortunately I agree with Riff that his ship has sailed as far as being an effective player for the Browns.

Same goes with Hillis.

again, anyone see a pattern here? and if you do, how can you NOT attibute it to coaching?
