Default Consensus Pick at #4

On WalterFootball, they have a database with over 200 mock drafts...here are the results:

Their are 17 different choices at #4
The top picks are as follows:
RGIII: 47
Blackmon: 37
Richardson: 28
Kalil: 17
Claiborne: 16
Barkley: 16
Coples: 13
Jeffery: 10

At first glance it says RGIII is the consensus pick, and statistically that is correct. But when you look deeper into the numbers you see that Blackmon was chose 90 times before the 4th pick...RGIII only 8 times. So, the MOST LIKELY TARGET is Blackmon.

Further, RGIII (72) and Richardson (57) have very limited representation in the top 5 picks, where Blackmon (146) is represented more than both of them combined.

In other words, the REAL CONSENSUS PICK for the Browns is J.Blackmon (if they can get him).

Thanks for the research Dawgfan. Nice job with it. Unfortunately, there's 2 teams drafting ahead us that need WR every bit as much as we do. St Louis and Minnesota.

I would LOVE Blackmon. Unfortunately, this reminds me of last year when I KNEW AJ Green wouldn't be on our doorstep so I researched Julio Jones quite extensively before the combines.

When AJ got drafted, Heckert decided to trade down for more draft picks instead of going after Julio. With Luck and Blackmon gone before #4, I can see us trading down again unless RGIII sold our front office he's been accurately hitting all kinds of contested routes with utmost precision for the last 3-4 years.

This draft and free agency offers us at least 1 WR that can make a difference if Blackmon is not available IMO.

If Blackmon is there I believe Heckert chooses him.

If Blackmon is gone I think the Browns have two choices:
1) Choose Claiborne or
2) Attempt to trade back a bit (think Wash & Mia) with a team who wants RGIII and grab Richardson near the bottom of the top 10 while picking up a couple extra picks

Personally, I love any of these three with our first choice at #4. Blackmon is a PERFECT fit for this offense: he has no fear of the middle of the field, has great hands and seeks YAC. Claiborne would give us two excellent corners in a division loaded with excellent opposing receivers. Richardson is an absolute stud with tremendous ability and I don't think Hillis will be here next year. But I think Richardson can be had a little later in the top 10 which is something that I can't say about Blackmon who Jax would grab nor Claiborne who TB would likely select.

There will probably be 3 elite players at our pick. Claiborne, Richardson, and either Kalil or Blackmon, I am thinking Blackmon.

I think if it is as I say ...we'll either be trading down, or trading up.

hiramb will become famous soon enough
Default You guys...

The Browns aren't passing on a franchise QB because they won't go into next year without some serious competition for Colt McCoy. They won't pass on RG3. He is by far an elite talent and player and would be able to make every single throw in this offense.

Colt just doesn't have the physical skills to be able to get the job done and will be replaced. The fact that he will have to compete for his position should tell you that he isn't in good standing with the team and the fact that they said that they weren't going to go the way of free agency to get a QB should tell you that RG3 is on their minds.

If the Browns had a DECENT QB they would've won at least seven games this past year and won't have this opportunity again to draft an elite, franchise QB like RG3

Big 12, Arena Football, Soft defenses, gimmick offense v.s. AFC North, the best Defenses in the NFL, REAL Pro football, WR's without 10 yard cushions, comprehensive offense.

The unfortunate fact for the HarrellIII pimping is he plays in the weakest division in College defensively running a gimmick offense and can't even equal the numbers Graham Harrell I put up in the same division with the same offense. Elite? Franchise QB? Afraid not. Overrated Big 12 QB who'll be eaten alive in the NFL? Afraid so.

Pass on HarrellIII and i'll say this if the Browns don't they deserve losing every year.
