Default Let's talk defense for a change...

What is the biggest need for our defense?

Pass rusher opposite Sheard?
Cover corner opposite Haden?
Outside linebacker?
Other?

In my opinion, it is pass rusher opposite Jabaal, but I still would understand if Heckert goes Claiborne at #4 (assuming Blackmon is off the board).

That being said, I love Whitney Mercilus at RDE. He can be had in Rd. 2.

I also like either Burflict or Zach Brown with our 2nd 1st rounder.

No matter how the draft shakes out, Heckert has to fill one of these 3 positions in the draft despite our glaring playmaking needs on offense.

Default Defense

Until the Browns get a QB, Blackmon or any other WR won't do anything. You mus be able to stretch the field and Colt has shown that he is incapable.

RG3 is the best way to go because he can make all the throws and is a tremendous athlete, with alot of brains to go with it.

Onto the Defense.

The defense needs more help than the offense.

I would start with one of the pass rushers and then use the rest of the draft to fill in at LB, FS, CB and depth at all positions!!!

I have no idea how you can say the defense needs more help than the offense. The defense needs a couple upgrades and of course depth but I think they'll address that in FA and the D will be fine.

While I believe our highest "draft pick" on the defensive side of the ball should go on a DE to play opposite Sheard. I would love to have that DL that can pressure the QB with just the 4 guys. The biggest NEED is at LB.. however good LB's can be found in rounds 3,4,5.. I think we need to spend a 1st or 2nd rounder to get a top quality DE. I say the later rounds are where we need to beef up the LB unit. There are always exceptions for exceptional players..but the biggest need is at LB as we don't stop the run well and we cannot cover TE's and RB's very will with our turtle like LB's. We also need a LB who can get after the QB when needed.

The offense needs a lot more than the D does though..

I disagree with those saying the offense needs more than the defense.

The offense most certainly needs some huge glaring holes filled, but less players to get to a playoff level imo.

Also note I feel the defense was maybe equal to last years, but I actually feel it was worse ...which you would have seen had we had last years schedule this year. And that's after really addressing the defense in the draft. Yikes.

Needs on offense:

Starters:
QB
2 WRs
2 OL

Depth:
2 OL

Needs on Defense:

Starters:
DE
MLB (assuming we move DQ to WLB where he belongs)
OLB
FS
CB

Depth:
DT
CB
SS
LB

The biggest need for our defense is some offense.
