I fully believe the Browns should go with a Linebacker with our Atlanta pick, given we had one of the worst run defenses in the league. Now in the top 15 the only team that will probably go for a LB is the Eagles. After that the Browns could be next, and here are my two biggest prospects. #1 Luke Kuechly- 191 tackles this year 2011- Dick Butkus award 2011- Vince Lombardi/Rotary Award 2011- Lott IMPACT Trophy This guy is an absolute machine, and will be a great LB but he may go somewhere else like to the eagles. #2 Vontaze Burflict This dude is simply said a madman. He has the most talent I have seen for a while, similiar to Ray Lewis, but he needs to be taught a few things and one of them is not to let his emotions get out of control. He is a natural all the way. I think he may be available, and adding this man to our defense (With D'QWELL Controlling him) would put us on another level. If we don't get Blackmon at #4.. there are a handful of WR's that could be worthy of this spot.. If we get Blackmon then this is a DE , LB or RT. but one of those 4 spots spots have to be filled there.

If you are forced to take the BPA at #4 because Blackmon is gone then you have to look at adding offensive weapons with #22 and #37. WRs like Wright, Sanu or someone like White that may jump up the board because of the senior bowl or combine workouts need to be looked at. |

If we got Justin Blackmon, would it be dangerous if we also pick another wide receiver so we can have Josh, Justin, Greg and new player fighting for 3 positions. Then Colt wouldn't be able to complain about our lack of playmakers.

I like Kuechly. High character, hardworking player that may not hit ESPN with his hits but will get the job done every game. Burfict on the other hand... I'm telling you guys, he's pure hype folks. Yeah if you want a player that runs around throwing dirty hits causing penalty after penalty while running his mouth nonstop then Burfict is your guy. If you want a good LB? He's NOT your guy. I watch all ASU games and as can be seen in the cheerleader thread i'm an ASU fan. This kid literally has the maturity and mentality of a little child, fancies himself a gangbanger around campus and his skills aren't all there. For every big hit he makes he whiffs on 20, takes poor angles and doesn't wrap up. Think Rey Maualuga with less talent. I'd personally go with Kuechly or Dont'a Hightower. Kuechly isn't going to pull Harrison highlights or anything but he'll likely play at a pro bowl level for years to come. Hightower likewise, he's not going to lay players out and lay wood but he will tackle them and play disciplined football. He'll also work his ass off and not let opposing players mentally check him out of the game, a reoccurring issue with Burfict. It's sad that Manti T'eo stayed at ND another year or i'd say take him over ANY of the above. Has the high character work ethic and fundamentals of Kuechly and lays wood knocking people around like Burfict with none of the red flags. |

Has the media picked up up on this stuff? Sounds like it'll be an issue when folks start bringing up his name for an early pick. Good stuff kok, thanks for the heads up.

Some of it they have, i've heard some analysts bring up his immaturity issues and penchant for penalties a few times now. I know one of the NFLN guys mentioned that stuff awhile ago. I would imagine and certainly hope as they dig in more is brought to the surface. For right now it seems most are enthralled with his "aggressiveness" on the field ala Maualuga who as we later discovered was dealing with alcoholism that was successfully swept under the rug for a time. Now I don't know and am NOT saying Burfict is a drunk, i've no clue. He's just really REALLY immature according to people from ASU and Tempe that have had dealings with him. Far as I know it's yet to escalate into off the field violence but ON the field? Unfortunately so and like I said, it's easy for opposing teams to fuck with his head and mentally check him out of the game. To be fair though as I am being tough on the kid he could mature and grow up eventually but that along with his physical abilities would need ALOT of work and ALOT of hard nosed coaching. For a rebuilding team like us with a players coach it wouldn't be a good risk to take. He would be better off going somewhere like New England where the Coaches will be up his ass with their boots if he's going to translate to the NFL and grow up. |
