We might even be okay at OG if Steinbach can return and then we can let Pinkston/Lauvao/Greco/Cousins duke it out for starts on the other side. I've lost patience with relying on Pashos at RT. I think we could look there in round 2. This might sound outrageously dumb but the BIGGEST reason we never saw Greco start at OG was because it would have cost us a draft pick. Keep in mind, if we draft a RT, we can kick Pashos inside to compete for reps if the guy even wants to play at all. I don't get a good vibe about that guy though.

I don't know very much about college Safeties to give you any feedback. Having said that, TJ Ward is as injury prone as his college resume advertised. Therefore it's a good idea Solon.

LBer is a need, DE and I'm hip to Keenum. I'm thinking Keenum will be available well after the 4th overall pick; BUT that position traditionally has guys going a round or 2 ahead of projection.

This appears to be one of the best FA lists of WRs so I like that idea quite a bit.

Here's my list of needs in my version of priority knowing we won't have access to Andrew Luck:
1. WR
2. DE
3. RT
4. WR
5. Safety
6. LBer
7. QB
8. Cornerback
My list a bit Different:
1). WR
2). Safety
3). LB
4). LG or RT I'd move steiny to RT and Pick LG
5). QB
6). DE
7) LB x2
8) safety x2
ALL depends on the direction of QB situation...if you lean on keeping McCoy...this is my list.

If we go QB then my list is altered
1) Qb,
2). WR
3). Safety
4). LB
5). RB
6). DE
7) LG or RT

My two certainties are WR and DE are the last pieces of the Puzzle! Some may disagree but to me, those are fact! Mario Williams would look nice in our 4-3

My plan would be quite different.

Blackmon at #4, or the best DE with the #1s (or reverse that if Blackmon is not there.. Best DE with the #4 and best WR with the second first rounder..Round 2 draft a RT and move Pashos to guard, Round 3 LB, Round 4 (we have 2 picks) get of the Best 2 available S, LB, or WR, Rounds 5-7 BPA.. (draft includes at least 1 if not 2 WR's, DE, 2 LB's, RT, and at least 1 or 2 secondary players.)

4 free agent starters: RB, CB, LB, and G.. This is the best free agent RB class in a decade.

Roll with McCoy another year.. he steps up, or we replace him the following year.. No matter which happens...whoever plays QB (McCoy or his replacement) will still need a better team around them to have any success. This is the draft to do that.

There is also the possibility of a tradedown from #4 with Seattle or Washington if they want RG3 and reap some more picks.

10. QB Colt McCoy had no chance to succeed with rookie Greg Little and nobody else aside from Josh Cribbs and promising Jordan Norwood worthy of reps. Incredibly, the Browns haven’t boasted a great WR since Paul Warfield in the 1960s. This must finally be made a top priority. Browns RapidReports

Jan. 25, 2012 11:11 a.m. - by Marty Gitlin - Browns offseason needs by position on 1-10 scale: RB
9. This rating is legitimate only if Peyton Hillis leaves through free agency, which seems a near-certainty. The Browns simply can’t enter the 2012 season with injury-prone and unimpressive Montario Hardesty or Chris Ogbonnaya as their featured back. Browns RapidReports

Jan. 25, 2012 11:17 a.m. - by Marty Gitlin - Browns offseason needs by position on 1-10 scale: QB
6. This is tricky. QB Colt McCoy couldn’t be fairly judged because of the lack of skill position talent and inconsistent protection. But he also showed poor field vision and arm strength. Should the Browns bolster the talent around him or find a new QB? Browns RapidReports

Jan. 25, 2012 11:14 a.m. - by Marty Gitlin - Browns offseason needs by position on 1-10 scale: OL
6. The return of starting LG Eric Steinbach from injury will cure some ills and allow either Jason Pinkston or Shawn Lauvao to man the RG spot. RT Tony Pashos is prone to injury and vulnerable against speed rushers. That position must be addressed. Browns RapidReports

Jan. 24, 2012 11:18 a.m. - by Marty Gitlin - Browns offseason needs by position on 1-10 scale: LBs
6. The move of Chris Gocong to the strong side should be made permanent based on his performance there after Scott Fujita was lost for the season. The Browns need youth and speed on the outside, as well as more depth throughout the unit. Browns RapidReports

Jan. 24, 2012 11:16 a.m. - by Marty Gitlin - Browns offseason needs by position on 1-10 scale: DBs
4. The emergence of rookies Buster Skrine and Eric Hagg provides enough depth for the Browns to concentrate on bolstering other spots. CB Sheldon Brown has lost a step and Usama Young is weak in coverage, so a replacement might be needed there. Browns RapidReports

Jan. 24, 2012 11:19 a.m. - by Marty Gitlin - Browns offseason needs by position on 1-10 scale: DL
3. LE Jabaal Sheard and tackles Ahtyba Rubin and Phil Taylor are set, but the Browns are woefully lacking at RE. Jayme Mitchell muffed his chance. The Browns need a pass rusher who won’t get pushed off the line of scrimmage on inside runs. Browns RapidReports

Jan. 25, 2012 11:16 a.m. - by Marty Gitlin - Browns offseason needs by position on 1-10 scale: TE
2. There’s no Vernon Davis here, but Benjamin Watson and Alex Smith are solid when healthy, Evan Moore is a better pass catcher than he showed in 2011 and rookie Jordan Cameron could eventually emerge as the best of the four. The Browns could even trade one for help elsewhere. Browns RapidReports

I've been trying to say the same thing. We led the league in dropped passes, not INTs.

Speaking of Paul Warfield, he was the vertical threat we traded to the Miami Dolphins in 1970 so that we could draft our version of the highest rated QB - Mike Phipps. Understanding passing game dynamics, what does outside speed attract? Attention of the Safeties right? Okay, so if you also possess a very potent running game featuring Larry Csonka, Jim Kiick and Mercury Morris - how does the opponent want to defend it? Sneak 1 or 2 Safeties into the box to combat the run. Pretty NICE to bust them for doing so with 4.3 speed over the top. That led to 17-0.

And just when many thought the game of football completely changed, it NEVER stopped welcoming speed to the gridiron chess table. New England added Randy Moss' 4.3 forty speed to throw over the top at. Brady had a career best TD pass volume and took 18-0 into a Superbowl. They may not have had Csonka, Kiick and Morris benefitting from dictating where the opponent placed the Safeties; BUT Wes Welker took advantage of gigantic, uncontested space underneath from the speed of Moss.

I sincerely think the biggest locked door our passing game has is the fear gear at WR. The attention Mike Wallace's speed commands of Pitt's opponents sets up some pretty wonderful matchups for Antonio Brown and the other WRs.
