Default Brad childress hired

The Browns have not released any official statement, OF YET. But many sources including inside NFL reporters say Childress is the new OC.

The prediction from yesterday worked very well:

On a happy note, I am glad to say I think the experience will help Shumur. Shumur should be done calling plays and doing what rookie coaches are supposed to do, adapt to the HC. He is no Shaun Payton.

NFL REPORTER JASON LA CANFORA TWEETS- “Brad Childress has agreed to terms to be Browns offensive coordinator. Has strong ties to that offense and coach Shurmur #insideslant”

Yuck. Guess Shurmur will still be calling the plays.

Shurmur is still going to call plays. They've said it a few times that they would hire an OC but he will not be the offensive playcaller.

I do not get this logic.

Me either... I guess Chilly is going to be a guy to take half of the burden off of Shurmur. It's not a bad move but I wish they would just let the OC call the plays.

I thought they said if they hired the right man, Shumur would be relieved on playcalling duties? I will wait for more word from the Official Browns.. it would be nice if they spoke up.

Unless they changed recently... I'm pretty sure that Chilly is just going to be a sort of Assistant HC/OC and help with other duties. Shurmur is still going to reprise his role as HC/OC.

But yes, better to hear official word from Cleveland on how this is going to go down.

Chilly was only ever a dismal failure at calling plays in the NFL, so he won't be calling them.

He'll just be helping Shurmur scheme, so Shurmur still gets to "have fun" on Sundays.

Brad Childress OC> Inner Promotion OC> Pat Shurmur OC

It could be worse
