Default The RGIII Draft

http://brownscountry.com/2012/01/29/...ictions-v-2-0/

I released my version #2 of the Full 7 round Draft for the Brownies

Now I know that there is a heated line between what we should select, but lets be tolerant of others opinions.

If we get RGIII I think it means that Justin Blackmon has already picked.

My first version of the draft is to get Justin Blackmon, assuming RGIII has already been picked.

I see it being quite unlikely we have to chose between the two of them at the #4 pick.

But this draft is assuming we get RGIII and what we have to get after him...!

I gotta be honest... I want Kalil with that pick

Call me crazy, but theres other browns fans that share that opinion.

Kalil with one and Floyd/Wright with the other

Kalil is Insurance to Thomas, as well as a bookend RT, instantly the best in the league.

Thomas is getting older BTW, and we want to continue that protection. for 10 more years.

But then again call me crazy

I'm OK with this draft, but it's a dream as we won't have the 22nd pick anymore and we will be drafting 2nd.

Earliest Blackmon gets drafted is at 5.

If Blackmon and RG3 are both gone.. Kalil would be the logical pick. I still think St. Louis takes him though.... That being said..I don't like this draft at all as I don't think Burfict makes it out of round 1. to be there for us in round 2

DON'T TRADE UP. Either Kalil/RGIII/Blackmon are available for the Browns or Andrew Luck.. lmao but you see my point. All of them would work

I can't see the decision to draft RG3 being dependent on whether Blackmon's available. Securing a franchise QB takes precedence over all other personnel moves: if you've determined that RG3 is one, you don't pass on him.

and don't forget we could draft Kendal Wrght for 2nd choice. He got extra speed so Blackmon is not that important but would be amazing

I don't care for ANY receiver at #4, but when 'drops easy catches' shows up on a recevier's report, the red flag goes up.

All receivers drop passes, but when it becomes noteworthy in a scouting report, I have PLENTY of concerns when you are considering that receiver at #4.

From http://www.barkinghard.com/forums/20...-blackmon.html
Quote:
The major complaint I have with Blackmon's hands are that he'll make amazing, jaw-dropping catches and then follow it up with an easy drop over the middle. His consistency needs work, and this all stems from concentration.
There is also some concern about Kendall Wright. From http://www.barkinghard.com/forums/20...ll-wright.html

Quote:
Overall: Wright routinely makes catches in traffic with his hands, aggressively plucking the ball out of the air amongst defenders. He makes difficult catches when passes are both too high and too low. He makes some drops that are concerning where he lets the ball get into his body instead of using his hands to catch the pass. The drops were mostly over the middle on crossing routes.
However, we aren't considering Wright at #4 (I hope).

IMO, if we take Griffin at #4 and Wright is still on the board when our second 1st roundpick comes up, I'd pull the trigger. Same if Blackmon were to slide that far. Wright seems to have the speed, but, as jasonj pointed out once the difference between 4.2 and 4.5 is very, very small.

I know we wouldn't pick Wright for first pick in 4

If Blackmon is available the same time that RGIII is, that would make a tough decision.

But I either think someone will trade up to get RGIII and we will be left with Blackmon, or RGIII drops after Blackmon is selected!

The scouting report for Blackmon linked on these forums reads like a clone of Braylon Edwards to me.

Or, he could end up like the player he's compared to in the piece: Terrell Owens.

Point is, at number 4, our staff better be damn sure that his "show boating" and ball dropping aren't a) related or b) uncorrectable. We can't afford a Braylon Edwards type miss at number 4.
