As an aside, looking at our draft history v.s. FA's it looks even more fucked up.

Players drafted by us still on the team:
OT- Joe Thomas
OC- Alex Mack
WR- Mohamed Massaquoi
WR- Bryan Robiskie
ILB- David Veikune
ILB- D'Qwell Jackson
CB- Eric Wright
ILB- Kaluka Maiava
CB- Brandon McDonald
RB- Jerome Harrison
RB- James Davis
NT- Ahtyba Rubin
DE- Robaire Smith
CB- Coye Francies
FB- Lawrence Vickers
WR- Syndric Steptoe

Mangini picks:
OC- Alex Mack
WR- Mohamed Massaquoi
WR- Bryan Robiskie
ILB- David Veikune
ILB- Kaluka Maiava
RB- James Davis
CB- Coye Francies

16 fucking draft picks, 7 of which are Mangini picks.

Looks like our bread will be buttered in round 2 from what I see..this is the core and the future of our team.. We have a lot of potential in this list.. I put an F next to the guys who are young and represent the future of this club. We really need these guys to turn up the production for this team to contend..the other guys are older and may be around for a while..but I am saying the "f" guys are the ones who need to be the core of a future championship..the others likely will not be here long enough to see that..6 guys are f's.. ok I gave djq an f- to motivate him ha ha

WR- Mohamed Massaquoi f
WR- Bryan Robiskie f
OG- Eric Steinbach
NT- Shaun Rogers
ILB- David Veikune f
ILB- D'Qwell Jackson f-
OLB- Matt Roth f
CB- Sheldon Brown
CB- Eric Wright f

Man... we reaaaalllllyyy need to get the draft right this year.. 5 picks in the first 3 rounds.. we gotta make this count.. I am sick of being in the cellar every stinkin year.

That or the UDFA's haha. Nah seriously though rands two and three really are the bread and butter players generally. But yeah, we gotta hit in this draft, especially our first 5(so far) picks. Rounds 1-3 need to hit and i'm kinda shying away from BPA right now. We need to wheel and deal if we have to, trade up for more picks or whatever but we gotta go get the day one starters in the first three this time. Impact players as much as possible as well. Screw that whole continually draft solid, unspectacular guys mindset. That roster list shows we gotta go out and get some.. That's how I see it anyways.

What was amazing to me is how many guys on our roster that we could have gotten in the 10 previous drafts....all the 5th and sixth rounders that are now starting for us....or used to start for us.....bleahcH

5th round (Eric Barton, David Bowens, robert royal*, Kenyon coleman*)

6th..(Robaire smith,Corey Williams(ex), Rex Hadnot,CJ Mosely,Derrick Anderson (ex)and Daven Holly(ex)

so we missed on these guys in the 5th and 6th rounds in previous drafts and they ended up playing for us....ug!

I know it's not a QB thread but what I am trying to "Splain Lucy is that teams that have success with their first round picks usually don't have to keep drafting in the top ten every year. Also, if you keep an organization together and quit changing it every 3 years you have a better chance of building a team through the draft also.

Yeah. The facts speak for themselves.

This is pretty cut-and-dried. Champions are built via the draft. Our drafts have SUCKED. This is proven by the dearth of draft choices combined with the high number of UDFA scrubs that litter our roster. I mean, if our draft picks panned out, we wouldn't have ROOM on the roster for UDFA's. Right??

But the times they are a-changin.' I hope.
