You want a QB? Gotta take him in round 1. Tom Haberstroh: What positions are worth a first-round pick? - ESPN |

This scenario isn't mine. This was by a guy named Hull. Since I'm not Sheep and I'm not mythological, I'll just post it in an existing and relevant thread. Incredi-Hull Draft Scenario III: The Real McCoy Part II - Fantasy Football Jungle Published: Apr 18, 2010 12:09 PM EST Incredi-Hull Draft Scenario III: The Real McCoy Part II By Jonathan Hull On Saturday, we examined the possibility of Buffalo trading back into the first round to select Texas QB Colt McCoy. It's a move the Bills could greatly consider given how well McCoy fits new coach Chan Gailey's system. However, the collaboration of two NFL Draft masterminds could halt any thoughts the Bills have of nabbing McCoy. Mike Holmgren and the Cleveland Browns have shown major interest in McCoy and everyone assumes he will obviously be the pick if he's available for them early in the second round. However, the presence and interest of the Bills might force Cleveland to make a move in order to secure McCoy's services. Enter Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots. A franchise that is always looking for ways to collect second and third round picks. Cleveland has the ammo to move up to the Patriots' No. 22 overall pick and I'd love to be on the line if Belichick and Holmgren actually do go through negotiations. BROWNS TRADE UP WITH PATS FOR MCCOY Browns get: New England's first round pick, No. 22 overall, and select Texas QB Colt McCoy. Patriots get: Cleveland's second round pick (No. 38) and two third round picks (No. 71 and No. 92). According to the trade value chart, Cleveland's package of three picks is enough to get to New England's first rounder. I said in the Saturday's scenario that Buffalo might have to give up next year's first round pick to secure McCoy. However, Buffalo doesn't have the ammo in this year's draft Cleveland does. The Browns will still have a third round pick even after giving up these three to move up. Plenty for the Browns and Patriots to work with. THE NEW DRAFT ORDER 22. Browns (from New England) Colt McCoy, QB, Texas (Original pick had Patriots selecting Sergio Kindle, LB, Texas) Interesting to see McCoy sending a former teammate down in the draft a bit. The Browns get a player expected to develop into their franchise QB. They did this just a few seasons ago with Brady Quinn. There will be arguments the Browns wouldn't do it again because of the bust Quinn was. Don't buy that. This is a different regime in Cleveland and Holmgren always finds his QB. 23. Packers Brandon Graham, LB, Michigan Yes. Still Graham over Kindle. The Packers need a pure pass rusher and Graham is that more than Kindle is. Kindle's biggest value is his versatility. Graham simply gets to the QB. 24. Eagles Sergio Kindle, LB, Texas (Original pick was Sean Weatherspoon, LB, Missouri) Weatherspoon and Kindle are almost interchangeable in ways. The only difference is Kindle is a better pass rusher. The Eagles blitz their linebackers as much as any team in the league. Kindle is a great fit because of that aggression. 25. Ravens Kyle Wilson, CB, Boise State 26. Cardinals Sean Weatherspoon, LB, Missouri (Original pick was Jerry Hughes, LB, TCU) Hughes would have been a nice edge rusher for Arizona, but their biggest need at LB is replacing Karlos Dansby. Weatherspoon is perfect to take over at ILB in the 3-4 scheme. If needed, like Dansby, he can line up on the outside as well. From here, the next 12 picks remain the same, until we come to the 38th selection now owned by the Patriots, where they shake up the draft some more. 38. Patriots (from Cleveland) Tim Tebow, QB, Florida (Original pick had the Browns taking Colt McCoy, QB, Texas) The Pats are interested in Tebow and are innovative enough on offense to work him into their scheme. They'll also value Tebow's intangibles more than other teams might. Taking Tebow will upset one team in particular. 39. Raiders Vladimir Ducasse, OT, UMass 40. Chargers (from Seattle) Cam Thomas, NT, North Carolina 41. Bills Jerry Hughes, LB, TCU (Original pick was Tim Tebow, QB, Florida) The Bills are looking for a mobile QB to develop as a franshise signal caller. They failed to move up and get McCoy due to the Browns-Patriots trade. Now, Tebow is taken three picks ahead of them. Buffalo will have to look elsewhere for Chan Gailey's QB. Don't be shocked when the Bills make a trade up for Tebow should the Browns trade up for McCoy. The whole process could spook them into taking an extreme measure to secure their type of QB. Meanwhile, Hughes gives them the edge rusher they'll need to successfully move to the 3-4 defense. IS IT WORTH IT? Cleveland is missing a big piece on offense by not having a QB it can rely on. Getting McCoy, even at this price, could give them the leader they need. So much is made of the leadership Tebow provided, but McCoy did the same thing for the Longhorns. The team rallied around him in the same fashion. He can have that same impact for the Browns. WILL IT HAPPEN? I think this is a likely scenario. I think it's the most likely of the scenarios examined so far. The Browns do give up a lot, but still keep a valuable third round pick. With the right picks, Cleveland could show great improvement in 2010 and start looking like a playoff contender by 2012, and maybe even 2011. Published: Apr 18, 2010 12:09 PM EST

The Rams checked out (and worked out) Bradford again. The general vibe is that they're going to draft him, not trade the pick. But pretty much everybody else wants to trade down a little... and now the OBR says there are very reliable sources saying a couple teams are game, looking to get Berry and Clausen in the top 5-7 picks. I have a sense that this draft may get pretty crazy, rather than going by rote. My gut also says the Browns are gonna sit pat and take Earl Thomas. I feel pretty ambivalent about that. It's tough for me to get crazy psyched for a #7 DB who isn't Eric Berry. |

I just thought of one... and I have no basis for this other than you saying "Wacky." Kansas City trades Matt Cassell to Denver for the 43rd pick overall - and The Kansas City Chiefs select Jimmy Clausen - QB - Notre Dame. -jj |
