I think we'll actually draft Bradford. I think the Rams will pass and we will either trade with them or the Lions.

When you think of who Holmgren learned from (Walsh) and everyone who learned from Holmgren, you will most likely find many on this tree do no take QB's in the first round.

Holmgren didn't
Childress hasn't
Payton hasn't
Gruden didn't
(Walsh never did either)

I think Reid and Shanahan are the only WC coaches to take a QB in the 1st round. I think their belief is they can coach a smart QB with an arm to play in this league. I think they're considerd to be the anti-1st round QB kind of guys.

Couple that with the fact that both Mangini and Heckert like more picks and not less, and I really cannot see a scenerio unfolding where they give up picks in THIS draft to move up to take Bradford.

West Coast FO's rarely take a QB in the 1st round, and Heckert and Mangini like to move down and gather picks (value slots.)

I would say it is very unlikely they give up picks to move up in the 1st, especially for a QB who hurt a shoulder and played in a lot of shotgun.

Holmgren trades first round picks for QBs who are drafted #33 overall, however.

15 years ago he did, yes. WCO guys don't typically feel the need to do that anymore. Gruden is a great example. He built the Raiders O with Gannon (someone who Gruden helped make the Pro Bowl/NFL MVP by the way) and then flew to Florida to take a Delhommish Brad Johnson to the Super Bowl to beat his old team.

Holmgren also did the same for Hasselback. He took a 6th rounder to the Pro Bowl and a Super Bowl. He helped (but did not discover) Montana reach greatness.

Paul Hackett did the same for Steve Young. Sean Payton took a "Bradford gamble" on Brees. Childress had Tavaris Jackson to go with Rosenfels before Favre.

I don't have stats to show you, but facts are facts. WCO guys don't "feel the need" to take a QB in the 1st round. And they still are at the top of the food chain.

Coupled with Heckert/Mangini's history of trading down, and I just don't see going up to get a Bradford.

Like I said, this is based on who I think their goal is in the 2nd round and on the type of offense I think they want.

Will be interesting.
i like it

I voted for Bradford, but I really have no fricking clue who they will pick. I believe it really isn't set yet. Have to see what every one else does first. If Berry falls ... Suh... whoever. I am really looking forward to tomorrow. I will be at the local watering whole. The Captains Club. Good Cavs game specials. Haven't been out in a while and the anticipation is killing me.

Well, it does show you changed it here (before the draft). Good luck! I could live with that.

I picked Haden with a trade down or even if we can't trade down.
