Great stuff. They've written about 30 times about Clausen being a player of much discussion and debate in Berea, specifically that Clausen is above McCoy on the Browns board but not by as much as some other teams, etc.
Some by Sobo, some by Taylor, some by Adkins. I'm not saying they were or weren't lying, but they wrote it... and often.
Not relevant now, I guess. But is Taylor so tapped in that someone would tell him the Browns are trying to trade with the Rams and the Rams aren't having it? Good to know if he is.
It does sound like the Browns are trying really hard to move around. And that a lot of teams are jockeying around, in fact. More than usual.

So, I called John Taylor from OBR and asked him what he was hearing and he said the Browns are trying to trade up with the Rams, but they really don't want to hear it. they want Bradford. He also said they are talking to Washington for a trade up. He confirmed the talks with Washington from a Scouts.com guy down there.
John is the only guy who I know from OBR that said some Browns like Clausen over McCoy. I asked him how he came to that conclusion. He told me that it was from talking to people inside the organization after their pro days and interviews. He said, nobody told him that some people liked Clausen over McCoy and never anything about the guys liking McCoy were't the guys higher on the food chain. He said it's a feeling he had from what he heard. Sorry, no QB debate going on as far as OBR knows.
That being said, he told me that Clausen is very much in play at #7 for the Browns. The team supposedly has 6 guys they agree upon to take at #7. 2 DBs, 2 OTs, 1 QB and a DE/OLB. We can all guess who they might be but the Browns are trying to trade up and down and doing some advanced work on tomorrow. And yes, Philly is supposedly one of the teams they are talking to. There board is said to be very defense heavy.
Now, the biggest rumor which the Browns could be sparking with talk of they may take Clausen is that Jed York, President of the 49ers and son of Dr. John York and Denise DeBartolo wants Clausen not withstanding their ND roots. The Yorks and DeBartolos are well vested in ND history even building a Hall (DeBartolo Hall) to honor their father. Singletary doesn't wants to go in other directions but York wants Clausen.
We'll see if it's just smoke and mirrors or if any of it has some feet.
Some names you might hear Saturday that the Browns really like.
Ciron Black - they think he played out of position and would be strong as an inside guy.
Charles Scott - they really like him as a big back.
Mike Kafka - a fall back guy, but no earlier then late 5th or early 6th.
David Pender - a corner from Purdue
Kyle Calloway - OT from Iwoa who they like as an inside guy |
