For Entertainment Purposes Only...1 RD MOCKERY
I am NOT JJ/Alo/Fluges or any of the other draft experts...so take this all with a grain of salt (more like a truckload)...but here goes (By the way...be forewarned...Shep is gonna get a major woody!!!) - St. Louis (1-15): Ndamukong Suh, DT, Nebraska – while the common wisdom has the Rams taking Bradford, they can’t get past the combination of injury and lack of under center snaps. Doesn’t hurt that Suh is the most dominating NT since…well…a long time!!!
- Detroit (2-14): Russell Okung, OT, Oklahoma St. – yup, another surprise. Detroit has a QB that needs protecting and they are not about to let Stafford be the next Joey Harrington.
- Tampa Bay (3-13): Gerald McCoy, DT, Oklahoma – TB loves Suh…but with Suh gone they are more than happy to go with McCoy. This of course is contingent on no trade…but it is a bit early here.
- Washington (4-12): Bryan Bulaga, OT, Iowa. – They got their QB in McNabb, but let’s face it…he is a bit fragile as of late. So this is a no brainer. Teams looking to move up here for Bradford are rebuffed as the best OT’s would be gone by 6 at the very lates.
- Kansas City (4-12): TRADE to Cleveland: - Sam Bradford, QB, Oklahoma – The Browns were pretty much content to go after either McCoy or Tebow…(not sure why but Clausen really was never an option…maybe BQ syndrome)…but when the #1 QB falls to the #5 slot, even Holmgren can’t deny the value of trading up and getting him..(KC gets #7 and DQ Jackson)
- Seattle (5-11): Trent Williams, OT, Oklahoma – Whitehurst was a big investment…and he needs to be protected. Williams offers the benefit of being able to play at both RT and LT.
- Cleveland (5-11): TRADE to Kansas City: Eric Berry, DB, Tennessee – KC is ecstatic to address 2 of their top needs by this time in the draft with an ILB (Jackson) and the best S in the draft.
- Oakland (5-11): Bruce Campbell, OT, Maryland – Campbell is an athletic freak…Al Davis loves that…and they need to protect Gradkowski….I mean Russell….errrr….Frye???
- Buffalo (6-10): Trade to Pittsburgh: Jimmy Clausen, QB, Notre Dame – Rapelessburgher has played his last down in Pittsburgh. Say what you want, the Rooney’s are a class act. Just look at where their SB MVP WR is today.
- Jacksonville (7-9): Derrick Morgan, DE, Georgia Tech – The Jags are rumored to like Tebow..but come on man. Haden was a possible choice here, but the real need is at S and DE and OLB…not CB.
- Denver - from Chicago (7-9): Rolando McClain, LB, Alabama – The best LB in the draft falls into Denver’s hands.
- Miami (7-9): Jason Pierre-Paul, DE, South Florida – The Dolphins were waiting on signing DE Jason Taylor until after the draft…and Pierre-Paul’s availability…so now with Taylor gone this is a no brainer.
- San Francisco (8-8): Joe Haden, CB, Florida – SF is jumping for joy as the top CB drops out of the top 10 and addresses one of their major holes.
- Seattle - from Denver (8-8): Earl Thomas, S, Texas – They had eyes on Pierre-Paul, but with the run on DE/LB just ahead of them, they are more than happy to take the 2nd best S in the draft.
- New York Giants (8-8): CJ Spiller, RB, Clemson – He is just too good to pass up at this point. He will give the Giants a homerun threat from anywhere on the field.
- Tennessee (8-8): Brandon Graham, DE, Michigan – A natural pass rusher to come in and fill the shoes of Vanden Bosch.
- San Francisco - from Carolina (8-8): Anthony Davis, OT, Rutgers – the line gets a big improvement with the addition of at a guy that could go RT or LT.
- Pittsburgh (9-7): Maurkice Pouncey, OL, Florida – New QB means new protection.
- Atlanta (9-7): TRADE to Arizona: Kyle Wilson, CB, Boise St. – Arizona got hit hard with FA and retirement, and Kyle Wilson is a steal here. (Atlanta gets #26 and #90)
- Houston (9-7): Ryan Mathews, RB, Fresno St. – Wilson was the target, but with Arizona trading up to get him they focus on RB.
- Cincinnati* (10-6): Taylor Mays, S, USC – Is he the last piece to the Bengals defensive puzzle???
- New England* (10-6): Dez Bryant, WR, Oklahoma St. – With the injury to Wes Welker and the age of Randy Moss…BB takes a shot despite the ‘issues’
- Green Bay* (11-5): Sergio Kindle, LB, Texas – Putting him opposite Clay Matthews will make for one formidable LB crew.
- Philadelphia* (11-5): Mike Iupati, OL, Idaho – Kevin Kolb will need more protection than his predecessor got. Iupati is a big guy with a good attitude for them.
- Baltimore* (9-7): Jermaine Gresham, TE, Oklahoma – Heap has been injured and is getting old…and one more weapon for Flacco can’t hurt.
- Arizona* (10-6): TRADE to Atlanta: Jerry Hughes, DE/LB, TCU – They need some outside presence in both DE and OLB…Hughes fits the bill.
- Dallas* (11-5): TRADE to Cleveland: Dallas has no good selection here and the Browns have a player they want: Devin McCourty, CB, Rutgers – Browns need a CB almost as much as they need a long term QB…and now they get BOTH in the 1st round. (Dallas gets the #38 and #91)
- San Diego* (13-3): Terrence Cody, DT, Alabama – This may be a bit of a reach…but NT’s are hard to come by and he has shown ability to maintain the weight.
- New York Jets* (9-7): Jared Odrick, DL, Penn St.
- Minnesota* (12-4): Kareem Jackson, CB, Alabama
- Indianapolis* (14-2): Rodger Saffold, OT, Indiana
- New Orleans* (13-3): Sean Weatherspoon, LB, Missouri
(funny thing, even if the Pitt/Buf trade doesn't go down, the same players are picked in the same slots....Buffalo takes Clausen and Pitt takes Pouncey)
