I think we can throw out those Indy 40s when we see footage like this. PLUS guys with a nose for the ball - get places quicker because they have good instincts, anticipation and vision all working in unison.

Thanks for the video!

Not just corner blitzes though either. But blitzes from all over. we have 42 linebackers on this team (ok I exxagerate). Adding a second shut down corner to this team allows Ryan to open up his brain and start to really throw blitz schemes at opposing defense with out the worry of the DBs getting torched.

Don't worry though - round 2 is still a compliment for the Golden Child or Golden Tate and even the REAL McCoy. Why knee jerk for any of these guys in upper round 1 when they're still available in upper round 2?

There's a 70s tune with a lyrical line that fits the situation: "You don't have to be a star baby - to be in round 2."

I can tell that when you moved from Buffalo to memphis that you kept your sequined, white polyester suit. Clausen sliding makes me more inclined to take Tate, Colt McCoy, or "The best available defender"

I like Tate. Or someone who can score some points.

He doesn't tackle well??
He'll fit right in...

Haden is a great player and a good pickup.... just not at #7 overall. However... we were stuck in a shitty situation, drafting 7th in a draft with 6 elite prospects. I would have wanted to trade down, but I wouldn't be surprised if no one wanted to trade with us. I don't think he'll match the value we paid for him, but he should be a good player. And yes, I think we still needed a CB despite having Sheldon Brown.... CB was not our greatest priority, though.

I think it was just a decent pick... but it was the best we could do in the situation we had. Gotta hand it to Holmgren and Co.... CB was one of the weakest positions last year. This year, it will be one of our strengths.

Dude, clausen would of gone in the first round had more teams needed a QB, but that wasn't the case. Flacco would of dropped to the 2nd round had that not been a year people needed QB's.

Now got of the ledge and come back inside. The second round is only hours away.

H3 said, when you draft in the top 10 you have to get a guy that will play for you for 10 or 15 years. Haden was the right choice. They didn't have to roll the dice with him. He played against top flight WR's nearly every week and did the job.

Clausen fell out of the 1st round because he isn't seen as 1st round talent. Plain and simple.

Joe Haden is an immediate starter for us.

The only way to screw up the #7 pick would have been picking Clausen or Bryant.

Starters baby!!!!

Haden's a very good tackler. Like Eric Berry, he'll have a few of his tackles broken, especially when he doesn't use proper technique, but he's a better tackler than Earl Thomas or any of our current cornerbacks.

I think the clip is unfair to Haden in that respect. You really need to watch the games to appreciate that aspect of his game.

I'm very happy with this pick.
I liked his recovery after maikng a mistake in the passing game. But, saw him miss a lot of tackles in the open field when he was one on one. Son, you need to learn how to wrap up and take better angles. That was pretty weak. Nice blitzes and pass coverage, but that tackling is going to need to be better.
