I hope you're right because that clip didn't show much regarding his open field tackling ability. Ugly. I like him a lot - great pick. But he needs to work on tackling ---- today!

Keep in mind, it's just a few clips. So it's snap shots of a handful of plays. I think that is ALO's point. You have to look at the full body of work in each game. Almost all players, especially in college, have the fundemental lapses on occassional plays.

I'm sticking with this: He's a good cornerback. He deserved to be drafted in round one. He isn't super clean or the best corner of the last decade or anything. Many say Wilson is the better cover guy.

And for me, that makes Haden at 7 NOT a good value pick.

Here's what Walter thinks:

Cleveland Browns (Last Year: 5-11) -

2010 NFL Draft Grades:

7. Joe Haden, CB, Florida
With Eric Berry off the board, this was a no-brainer. Joe Haden is the top cornerback prospect in the 2010 NFL Draft. Sheldon Brown will likely be moved to free safety. (Pick Grade: A)

Haden ran a 4.41 for the Browns a week after his pro day. He came to Fla as a former QB being converted to WR. He started 3 years at corner and never gave up a TD. That isn't too shabby especially against SEC teams and BSC games.

Wilson may have an edge in man coverage but doesn't play that well in space and isn't the run support guy that Haden is. Heckert said wilson wasn't a consideation, thomas was the next consideration. They felt Haden was the best CB for their system.

Clean character and Tebow says he was the QB of the defense and worked as hard as he did. What's not to like......................or is it that he isn't a QB or WR?

At least we dont have to see any more of McDonald. So we took a CB #7 overall that will start out as our nickel back? WTF? Im trying to like this but it hurts trying. Positives, we didnt take a safety with the 7th overall pick and we can now focus on offense.

Haden will not be the nickle come week 1. He will be starting opposite of Wright.

Like Mangini said the nickle back plays 300-500 snaps per year. It wasn't the sexy pick but if it was the top guy on the Browns board than I'm ok with it.

Not really. I just don't love the value. I think it's a "safe pick," which we've done three times in a row, like the Rams.

I think we'll basically be the Rams of next year. A bad team with an obvious need at QB.

Maybe.

Haden is the top corner in this years draft, and:

He was a starting corner for Florida for 3 years. He was a high school quarterback. So there, we took a corner and a quarterback in one pick. Talk about Value!!!!

It also means that as good as he is, he's not at his ceiling.

In watching the YouTube video, it looks like his hads are good when snagging interceptions.

Browns trivia: that last Corner the Browns drafted in the 1st round was also from the SEC.
