Default H3 shoots down Sheldon Brown at Safety

I am not good at posting video links, but it's the presser with Heckert and Mangini.. When asked if Sheldon Brown can move to corner.. Heckert grimaced and shook his head no..then Mangini addressed it more directly saying we need multiple corners due to the nature of the league. Mangini shot it down again when asked a 2nd time. He says all 3 (wright, Brown, Hayden) have worked against the slot receiver and not they have flexibility as to who they like vs certain receivers.. Sounds good.

So I think we may yet see a safety taken today.. I am hoping WR Tate in round 2 and address Safety depth in round 3.

Damn.... I actually liked that idea, too.

I think it's a GREAT idea to make the rest of the teams THINK we will take a SAFETY still.

We will see.

Maybe somebody will move ahead of us for stiff Taylor Mays.

Think about who we have in our division at WR

Bengals, Ocho cinco, and bryant
Ravens Boldin and Mason
Steelers Ward and the speedster from last years draft

we need three CB's

but I think they could roll Brown to Safety on certain coverages, I believe they did that to him in Philly.

This is to take the pressure off the rookie coming in. If you're drafted number 7 at corner, you better be starting from day one. Brown will be at safety. Actually, he'll probably swing a lot. We're a safety pick in the third away from having a pretty damn good secondary.

Honestly, that makes this pick even stranger. Haden may not even start.

Sam Farmer gushed about a lot of picks, but of ours said, "Ran poorly at the Combine, better in his pro day. May convert to safety."

If you're talking about a third round pick, that's not so bad. But #7?

Okay, didn't take you long to start nitpicking this. Give it a rest, the kid is going to start at corner for us. Quote all the other guys too.

He's coming into a great situation in that Wright is firmly entrenched as the number one corner (for now) and we have a really good vet in Brown that can help him and eventually slide over to safety. The Browns did not draft Joe Haden to convert to safety. Do you actually believe that?

Haden, Wright, Brown as corners allows Ryan to send any or all of the LBers we have on blitzes almost every down.

Not really. My point is that it's being seen as either a listless or bad value pick by a lot of writers.

I don't like the pick. I admit it. I'm not jumping off any bridges... but I'm not jumping for joy either.

Hey, maybe it makes some kind of impact. Maybe he and Wright are lockdown corners and the Browns get to blitz more. It's just tough to get super psyched over.

I'm not sporting a chubby over it either. I just have a feeling my guy Spiller is going to make us rue this pick in years to come. However, I trust them and he definitely fills a need. They played it pretty sly how much they liked him to be honest, I really thought he would only come here after a trade down. I still wished we could have traded down.

If my memory is correct, you didn't like that Joe Thomas pick, either. Three years and three consectutive Pro Bowls later, our LT, and and UDFA named Cribbs are the face of the franchise, while a QB that you pined for was traded to Denver, and now is will be knocked of the depth chart by Tim Tebow?

Haden will be a very good player for us. Book it, Danno
