Hey, Grey! My pots was FILLED with positives!! I'm getting some good vibes on McCoy, but that's what I always do with QBs. Even though his coach is obviously his coach, Mack Brown was pretty convincing about him in the PD today. Says he has more arm than most think and that the Texas offense has a lot of pro style elements and reads. But I just can't wrap my brain around Delhomme. Sorry. I'd rather see Wallace. |

On Delhomme... hey, I'm always up for a great comeback story. I really am. But like I said, my son Cooper is a Panthers' fan so I watched more of them than makes any sense. Fans were banding together to buy Jake a plane ticket and a house somewhere else. He was hard to watch. It's just tough for even me to put lipstick on this pig. You know I liked the Wallace acquisition... I think he's a really interesting guy to bridge the gap to McCoy, who will at least get his shot, I think. Oh, one more prediction: I think we'll see McCoy late in the year no matter what Holmgren says now. We kinda have to know that he's showing promise before we pass on Locker, Luck, or Ponder. |

The way I see it with Delhomme, it's worrying that with two of the best RB's in the entire NFL, and Steve Smith, that JDH could not put up even OKAY numbers. He looked panicked at times and made a lot of simple mistakes with his decision making (which resulted in his awful TD/INT ratio). I think a change of scenery will help change that. It was clear that for a couple seasons at least, Carolina was ready to move on from Jake Delhomme. Now that he's "our guy" my expectations are not what they were of him in Carolina (to lead a winning team to a Super Bowl...) I want him to be a veteran presence, to that of which Holmgren has described. A guy who can impart some knowledge upon the young players on this team. Control a huddle and keep the energy up once the team is ON the field and hopefully put up some decent production. I would be happy with a 1-1 TD/INT ratio, if he threw 20-25 TD's. (and had as many INT's. It would suck... but at least he'd be putting up some numbers and that seems like a realistic prediction, if not a little high 15-20 TD's maybe)
__________________ BROWNS 2012: Its Weeden's job to lose, it was the second we took him #22 overall. We had a pretty good draft, and I'd like to start seeing some results. Fans already looking to next year and I don't blame them. I think we will have things to be excited about that we lacked last year and we have some real facepalm moments just like last year. It's going to be tough. We aren't Barking Hard for nothing. WOOF WOOF WOOF! ![]() |
