Thank you for the recommendation, hammer, but it looks like All-Pro WR Roy Williams is in need of the well wishes.

He's a prima donna. That's all this tells me.

Again, its exactly what you'd expect in the "LeBron-talk-about-yourself-in-the-third-person" era.

Trust me. His teammates will work this out behind closed doors. I'm thinking maybe Ware will get him on an end around or something.

I know you guys were gonna see this post coming from me, and I already saw someone posting that I was gonna say this, and I will

I think its a good thing, hes not taking any stuff from anybody, hes asserting himself to the top as the "Alpha Dog"

Im not gonna lie, I was the same way in high school, when I played sports they tried to pull this kind of stuff and I wasnt taking it, same thing why im not in a fraternity, I dont owe respect to anyone. Roy Williams is Dez Bryants competition on the depth chart. This isnt a game, its life or death....

I applaud Dez for his actions

Rookies who think they can just make their own rules will learn soon enough how things are done. I don't know this kid and he isn't on my team so I'm not really caring too much what he does right now. But if I am a captain of that team I think he would learn very quickly just how many sets of pads one person can carry off the field.

Joe Thomas is arguable the best LT in football and he carried shit off the field AND took a shaved head as well. His message to Roy Williams was really more about taking his job, but I'm certain his teammates will help him understand that the more attention you attract the worse it gets.

Be the gray man. Be a quiet professional. Take some hazing and get it over with. You have a chip on your shoulder and that can be a great thing, just don't let it turn into an unheathly chip.

PGL, you shouldn't even comment on this situation as your bias is so thick Dez could go out and rape 12 kids, shoot 34 nuns and sell crack to an entire elementary school and you'd still have his back.

For those who didn't follow tradition when I played they were met with severe penalties and I'm sure this will be no different.

It's a rite of passage, do the lump work while you're a rookie and then you'll get to do it to rookies one day. It's the circle of life. Saying that your too important, too big for this sort of thing never leads to good things on or off the field.

Strike one against Mr. Bryant....

Did you say you played team sports?

This wasn't some type of intimidation effort by a veteran, its a rite of passage. Apples and oranges. Dez showed his lack of respect as opposed to rebuking some sort of "dis". Plain and simple.

This is perfectly understandable coming from this innocent misunderstood rookie. He can't even carry the weight of his own + mommy's baggage. This is the opening volley of many more bizarre episodes to follow, bank on it.

To be fair, all the reports from Cowboys camp indicate that Dez is looking like a beast. Despite the questions about his character, pretty much everyone here agreed that Bryant's a tremendous talent.

And it'd be pretty silly for us to get into a debate about who was "right" about whether the guy has character issues or not. You watch TV tape and - for the most part - can assess a player's strengths and weaknesses. But we don't have all the info on players that NFL personnel people delve into, so it's very difficult to assess whether those character concerns are legit.

As far as assessing Bryant's game, the only critiques I can offer are the following:
- I'm not sure Dez has the long speed to run the top off of defenses, like Andre Johnson and even Braylon Edwards can. He has to highpoint the ball over defenders because he can't maintain separation down the field.

- He's got a very explosive release off the line, but it doesn't show up when he doesn't think the ball's coming this way. He'll need to show more consistent effort in that aspect of his game.

- He's got very good hands, but he too often looks upfield before securing the ball. You'll see him make a lot of acrobatic catches, then drop some of the easy ones.

- He can be taken out of the game if he loses control. Coach Gundy noted that Dez used to get so hyped up that he had nothing left in the 2nd half. In the opener against Georgia, Dez was the target of a couple cheap shots, which he responded to by getting flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct, committing two dumb penalties, and having to be dragged back to the huddle by his teammates. He needs to show much more on-field maturity, or else his game could fall apart.

Man, that sure does remind me of this certain first round WR we had here in Cleveland....

I don't think anybody is denying that Dez has talent, that much is obvious, but for OUR needs taking Dez at 7 was just not smart no matter how you cut it.
