Default Josh Cribbs fan chat

Andre, Kitchener, ON, Canada 3:00 PM ET
Tell me you guys are developing a sweet subpackage with you and Seneca on the field at the same time.

Josh Cribbs, Cleveland Browns
Definitely, it's already in the works. We're going to do everything we can to keep the defense on their toes, as far as what's the plan for that particular play.

Tim, Detroit, MI 3:01 PM ET
With all the off-season changes to the team, Mike Holmgren, the AFC North, and your new deal... How do you expect those changes to affect the Browns standings in the division?

Josh Cribbs, Cleveland Browns
I'm loving all the changes. With the addition of Mike Holmgren, it allows coach Mangini to focus specifically on coaching. I think the contract was a great compromise, and I'm ready to play some football and hopefully win out the AFC North.

Joel Covender, Kent Ohio 3:02 PM ET
JC, i have been a browns fan my whole life and i was a big kent state fan when you played there. would you ever want to play quarterback again?

Josh Cribbs, Cleveland Browns
Definitely. I always fantasize about being at the helm and playing quarterback and leading a team again.

Robert Sass, Chicago 3:03 PM ET
No expert is giving the Browns a chance to finish anywhere but last in the AFC North this upcoming season. Will the Browns surprise people this year? Why?

Josh Cribbs, Cleveland Browns
I love the fact that everyone counts us as last. I want to keep that going so other teams believe the same thing. It will be easier to win when they think we have nothing, but we actually have everything.

Christopher, California 3:04 PM ET
You are obviously the greatest returner in the game today. What are some things you work on in order to perfect your return game?

Josh Cribbs, Cleveland Browns
My stamina. A lot of times I have to play both ways. I have to return a ball, as well as stop the person on kickoff. So I have to keep my stamina up to make sure I can be an effective tool on offense as well as special teams.

Chris, Chicago 3:05 PM ET
I just want to say I think your an amazing football player and outstanding return man. But give me your honest opinion, do you think you would beat Devin Hester in a race?

Josh Cribbs, Cleveland Browns
Devin Hester's faster than me. But it doesn't matter who's faster, it only matters who can get away from an opponent. He's smaller, and I have a lot more power and agility, in my opinion.

Jeremy, Akron, OH 3:07 PM ET
What's your prediction for Game 6 tonight in Boston? Any feelings about where LBJ lands as a free agent?

Josh Cribbs, Cleveland Browns
I think the Cavs are going to win, and I think the Cleveland Cavaliers will win Game 7 in Cleveland. I think LeBron is staying in Cleveland. He's the king here, and I think he'll stay here where he can be king.

Eric, Boston, MA 3:08 PM ET
If you had to choose between being known as a great guy or a great football player (even though you are both) which would you choose?

Josh Cribbs, Cleveland Browns
That's a tough question, because I love football and I would want to be a great football player, but a great football player is nothing without being a great person. Football isn't forever, so I have to say great person.

Josh, Browns fan 3:09 PM ET
Josh, Huge Fan! Cleveland Clear favorite of AFC North. How long does it take for you to recover from sport related injuries end of the season?

Josh Cribbs, Cleveland Browns
I'm still recovering. It's like an ongoing process. That's why we lift and condition our bodies to withstand all the brutal impacts. But there are things I haven't recovered from, from years ago.

Phil, NW Ohio 3:10 PM ET
It is early, but how are McCoy and the other rookies looking so far?

Josh Cribbs, Cleveland Browns
Haven't had a chance to look at them yet, but I talked to a couple coaches and they said they are looking really decent.

Zane, Mount Juliet, TN 3:11 PM ET
What do you think will be of T.O

Josh Cribbs, Cleveland Browns
Hopefully in Cleveland. I think he got a little bit left in the tank. He'll eventually be with a team in training camp. T.O. is going to go to a team once they figure out what these rookies are made of.

james r, albany 3:11 PM ET
If you could choose to play with any WR in the league who would it be?

Josh Cribbs, Cleveland Browns
It would probably have to be T.J. Houshmandzadeh or Brandon Marshall or Ochocinco. There is a lot of them. Guys I played with in the Pro Bowl, who are phenomenal talents and could help us really win.

Weston Busch, Florida 3:13 PM ET
Josh, your kids have names I have never heard of anywhere else...What do they mean and where did you come up with them from?

Josh Cribbs, Cleveland Browns
I think they are not all that unique. When you are picking the name of a child you want to reach a compromise with both parents, and those are the names we came up with. Kimora came from fashion designer Kimora Lee Simmons, and Israel is a powerful biblical name.

Ledis, Cleveland Ohio 3:14 PM ET
Who is the funniest person in the Browns lockers room? And what are you most excited about this season?

Josh Cribbs, Cleveland Browns
Hmmm, the funniest person is, hmmm, is Nick Sorenson. He does impressions of other coaches and players that are hilarious. As far as next season, I am excited about continuing our success from the end of last season. To pick up where we left off.

Daniel Wolf, Cleveland 3:15 PM ET
After meeting Mike Holmgren, what was your impression of him?

Josh Cribbs, Cleveland Browns
My first impression of him was that he was really jolly. He reminded me of Smokey the Bear. He's really friendly. He's really cordial and very inviting.

Clint, SW Ohio 3:17 PM ET
Josh you are the man I actually played against you in college and was amazed then and so happy you landed with my favorite team! Do you think the browns will add a vet. wo before the season?

Josh Cribbs, Cleveland Browns
Yes, definitely before the season. Sometime in training camp, we'll probably get a veteran receiver to go with our other weapons.

Fife, Believeland 3:18 PM ET
Is there any significance to you wearing #16?

Josh Cribbs, Cleveland Browns
It was given to me. It's given to a guy who they aren't sure who is going to make the team or not, and I decided to make it into one of those great numbers given to a player. My wife wants me to keep it because she calls it Sweet 16.

Shawn V., Defiance Ohio 3:18 PM ET
What is your pregame activities?

Josh Cribbs, Cleveland Browns
I get a massage before every game. And I make sure I listen to calm and relaxing music, because I'm already excited about the game, so to focus I listen to music to calm me down.

Daniel Wolf, Cleveland 3:19 PM ET
Rumors are circulating that your may not be returning punts in 2010 to be utilized more on offense, any truth to this?

Josh Cribbs, Cleveland Browns
Of course not. There's not truth to that. I'll be doing everything and more. My job has only increased.

Joe Duarte, Wareham, MA 3:20 PM ET
How do you feel about losing both of the starting quarterbacks from the last few years, is it a fresh start, or more of a setback having to get to know the new QB's?

Josh Cribbs, Cleveland Browns
I feel like it's a natural transition that happens in the NFL. We have a new organization, and I'm just going to trust in Mike Holmgren to get the job done. Holmgren will bring in the talent, and Mangini will train them.

David Sentendrey, Charlotte, NC 3:21 PM ET
Who is your favorite Browns player to watch and who is your favorite non-Brown to watch? Thanks JC.

Josh Cribbs, Cleveland Browns
To be honest, it's Blake Costanzo, a backup linebacker/special teamer, who has a lot of heart and shows it with his play on the field. I like to watch Ochocinco, to see what kind of gimmicks he's going to do next.

Brigid, Chicago 3:22 PM ET
Josh I'm a huge fan - I love what you do for Cleveland both on and off the field. Who were some of your football heroes growing up?

Josh Cribbs, Cleveland Browns
I really liked Barry Sanders, Art Monk, Deion Sanders. It was funny because I played against Deion. And, Jerry Rice.

Andrew Zajac, Struthers, OH 3:24 PM ET
What are your early thoughts on Joe Haden?

Josh Cribbs, Cleveland Browns
I think he's going to be a nice up-and-coming talent that has a lot to learn. He's from my area, so I'm going to teach him up well. The older guys are going to make fun of him a lot, but he'll be a great talent.

Ryan, Waldorf, MD 3:25 PM ET
Do you follow soccer at all? Will you be watching America in the World Cup?

Josh Cribbs, Cleveland Browns
I'm a fan, but I'm not enough of a fan to watch the World Cup.

Brett, Cincy 3:25 PM ET
What defence in the AFC North do you dislike playing the most?

Josh Cribbs, Cleveland Browns
The Ravens. I love the Steelers defense, and hate the Ravens defense.

Jack Mehoffer, USA 3:26 PM ET
Josh, what do you think about Mangini's stiff penalties for taking bottled water?

Josh Cribbs, Cleveland Browns
To just clarify. The fine was for not paying the incidentals. And the fine was for him not paying for the incidental he took in the hotel room. It's just about the discipline.

Mike, Toronto 3:28 PM ET
Hey Josh, huge fan of yours What do you think about Chris Johnson and his holdout? Personally I agree with his decision, just wondering what another NFLer thinks about it.

Josh Cribbs, Cleveland Browns
I feel like a player should be paid his worth. It's a brutal sport, our bodies are on the line, and if a player is excelling in the way that CJ is excelling, I think he should be fairly compensated.

Corey, San Jose, CA 3:28 PM ET
Hey josh what do you think about jake delhomme as your quarterback and your thoughts on colt mccoy and how he has fit in the browns organization?

Josh Cribbs, Cleveland Browns
Jake Delhomme is our veteran quarterback. He's a guy that's going to usher all the up-and-coming talent. Seneca Wallace will be a triple-threat, running, passing and Wildcat. He'll be the relief pitcher. Colt McCoy will be the future.

Joel Covender, Kent OHIO 3:29 PM ET
josh, do you play madden ?

Josh Cribbs, Cleveland Browns
I play Madden, but I play Call of Duty more.

Jon Barry, Cincinatti 3:30 PM ET
What was your favorite team when growing up?

Josh Cribbs, Cleveland Browns
Washington Redskins.

Joe Duarte, Wareham, MA 3:31 PM ET
Do you guys have any regular rituals or yearly jokes you play on the new rookies?

Josh Cribbs, Cleveland Browns
Yes. They have to stand up in front of the entire team and sing a song. Then the veterans will vote on if they like it or not. If we did not like it, they either have to sing another song or tell us a joke that makes us laugh and entertain us.

Daniel K, Nashville 3:32 PM ET
If you were not an NFL star, what else would you like to be doing right now? Also - I'm from the DC area, what is your favorite DC location?

Josh Cribbs, Cleveland Browns
If I wasn't in the NFL, I'd be in the military. I was on the drill team in high school, and both my parents were in the marines. My favorite hangout spot is Love Nightclub.

Mike, NY 3:33 PM ET
What is the hardest part about playing football? Apart from Injuries?

Josh Cribbs, Cleveland Browns
The time spent away from your family. We work about 10 hours a day on average, sometimes even longer. And then the weekends as well.

Tony, San Diego, CA 3:34 PM ET
In your opinion which team is the hardest to run a kickoff return against?

Josh Cribbs, Cleveland Browns
The Patriots. They have several safeties playing back, giving up a lot of yards, but not any touchdowns.

Josh Cribbs, Cleveland Browns
This season, the new-and-improved Browns are looking to be a top competitor in the NFL with great hopes of going into the postseason and being a dangerous team for anybody to encounter. Thanks to all the fans, have a great day.
