The point, though, was that Tom tried to play "gotcha" again... and the irony is that MZ played a major role in THIS board existing. And we, the first few, had a vision of a board that would be fun and cool and skip all the tribes and personal attacks.

It lasted for a while.
FWIW, I called Stan when it was going down and asked WHY would you NOT stick up for some dedicated long timers that wanted to leave. I guess he wasn't feeling their loyalty the way I saw it. Stan said first of all I'm not kissing anyone's ass that wants to repeatedly complain about my leadership style; especially after they told me how wonderful freedom of speech has been that other boards never allowed. On top of that, he's never liked first round QBs here so when he saw a wise ass like Lumberg - he noticed posting volumes increasing. And ANY time Lummy disappeared - it always seemed like his biggest rivals were concernly asking where's Lumberg? Let's be honest here - what one of us wouldn't root tooth and nail for their hometown QB like Lummy did? He was the type of wise ass you'd want to spring on Steeler orphans coming in if we could ever get winning behind his QB. Well we couldn't so his value was getting pretty obsolete. In the end, Stan liked the Jerry Springer effect so then came the Quinn fag stuff.

I WANTED to stay on that other board just out of sheer support and loyalty until it got really really bad. When I decided to leave - Stan was busy in travel league baseball meetings for a local team he leads and organizes so he wasn't even there for about a 4-5 week period. It got so bad I asked myself why I'm posting about football and why participants are more interested in what they did on Valentines Day. It never felt like passionate Browns' fans I had a connection with. There were a few good posters when they were active but I realized how many people here I missed talking about our team with. There's still some long timers there I'm very fond of.

Anway, I brought some of the posts I was doing there over here and I was pleased at how many familiar faces there were wanting to talk footbnall and telling me I was missed. I never wanted us all apart in the first place. Therefore, I've never felt good about the split. I DO understand alot of good people were getting posts removed and Stan was acting out feeling underappreciated and a little untrusting that alot of people calling out his leadership he felt were from another message board. Whether one agrees or opposes his thinking - I'm just letting you know where it all came from without judging him. He's always been a friend to me so I can't say I ever walked in the same shoes others did in getting here. I came because I want to talk football with passionate fans wanting to do the same thing.

Shep, when you were contemplating going back to that other board I think I told you it wasn't gonna be the same. I think you replied you already checked it out again and gave me the affirmative.

Anyway, tomorrow's another day we can all appreciate how much better things are today than when we were told our football team was moving to Baltimore. The next time anyobne gets down or furstrated about somethign on the team heading in a direction that are wooried about - REMEMBER where we disappeared to in 1996 and remember where leadership of Holmgren, Heckert and Mangini want to take us.
- Tom F. (I'm ashamed I had to edit the year to 1996. I'm getting old man!)

I don't know, i've never even spoken to the owner as far as I know so I can't comment. But i'll take majority word on it.

I HAVE see that situation play out though, and it's unfortunate everytime it happens. It is also strangely odd i've seen about 10 forums die out over that EXACT same issue. Board troll continually derails threads and pisses everyone off, everyone gets tired of it, mods/admin don't do shit about lonely troll, forum dies off or turns to shit.

I was on this one music forum for YEARS and it was badass as hell with tons of good topics and busy pretty consistently. But there was a troll on it. At first he was well behaved, befriended numerous members of the forum, ect. Then slowly started trolling around summer of 2008. First it started with political bullshit. There was a rule about political discussion, but loosely enforced. Pretty soon every goddamned thread was turned into this huge "debate" by the guy and entire sections of the board were filled with political topics. I'm not talking a debate here and there, the debate was in EVERY thread and you'd literally get on the board and the first three pages in the area was nothing but political articles posted by him. Which is whatever, he was given an opportunity to discuss things, there was almost zero interest and any "debate" was a shitload of people telling him to stop spamming the joint.

Anyways it quickly moved to the music sections, only the music he liked was represented, ANY thread contrary was hijacked, the owner of the board liked the guy and stood up for him, people left, still stood up, more left, still standing up the mods all left and within 3 months we went from 80 members down to last time I went there three members. Btw, the troll left after everyone else did and bashed the board on his way out. The funny part though is he trashed the one guy who stood up for him at the cost of nearly a hundred members for not "doing enough to keep the board active." That's fuckin' hilarious.

Seems TBB and ALOT of forums fall to that bullshit unfortunately. I don't get why the fuck board owners always get all soft for blatant trolls like that guy and Lumtard.

For those Grossi fans who seem to think McCoys arm sucks worse than Quinns.

Quote:
Hey, Tony: Now that you've seen both Brady Quinn and Colt McCoy in person, which one has the stronger arm? -- Steve Bohnenkamp, Geneva, Ill.
Hey, Steve: It's close. I need to see more. I will say that McCoy throws the ball more effortlessly. Quinn's throws just looked to take a great deal of effort.

Yeah, BPP, Alo posted that elsewhere (and I'd read it). It's encouraging. I can't compare until I see McCoy in a preseason game, but based on college film I'd say Quinn has more arm but McCoy has a more natural motion. Quinn threw more spirals. McCoy is more accurate in general, especially 25 and in.

KoK, I was on a writer's board. Without going too personal, I broke into the biz out of nowhere (Kansas City) with no connections and a big, fat, highly-publicized sale. Most of the writers on that board were LA-based and a little cynical. A small pack of them instantly resented me and any message that, "Dreams come true, it can happen to you."

I tried for a while to literally ignore the potshots and only respond to topic-based stuff, but I'm no angel and the shit started flying. Literally every word I wrote was bashed by this alpha guy and his three followers. One of them, a girl, actually contacted me and apologized and we stayed in contact for a while.

The madness spread and the psychos danced... and if you wanna see psychos, go into a room filled with writers. I left first, then a bunch of others, and the board literally started reading like a psych ward round table. It almost became worthwhile reading, ironically.

Then the bad dude left... because he got the adaptation assignment that would ultimately lead to an Academy Award nom. He wasn't the angry young-ish man anymore, the smarter-than-thou outsider. And he was never heard from again (at least in cyberspace).

I realized later that he and I were Berenger and Dafoe in "Platoon." Without either of us, the formula collapsed. With neither of us, the board became drivel. The Internet is weird.
