My opinion is that they should always play the best players. I doubt McCoy will play better than either Delhomme or Wallace in his rookie year, but he could surprise.

Let's decide how good a rookie QB is while he is still learning the playbook, is throwing passes to guys he has never worked with, and on a day where the defense was working on blitz packages.

God, that kid must SUCK!!!

I hate these knee jerk reactions from the media.

I think it's good they throw him in on blitz practice.. that's what he's going to see from opponents the second he gets on the field (whenever that is).. get him used to it now.

Similar report on McCoy in the PD, tool. Sounds like he had a rough one. Let's be very honest with ourselves: The arm is a serious question mark. These reports sound way too much like the Frye notes from a few years ago, and that scares the shit out of me. I hate the word "wobby" about passes thrown in shorts. Not good.

Nice to hear about Ward. Not as nice to keep hearing nothing about Haden. I did read something good about Brown though.

I'm trying to stay hopeful, but our quarterack sitch feels really shaky.

What happened to that other shep, the super-optimist from last week?

Sounds like as soon as the defense was allowed to do a little more, the mirage evaporated.

I won't declare anything until we've seen them play with pads on... but it feels shaky.

It's OK to feel like it's shaky; it IS shaky.

The PD report about McCoy's short out was really unnerving. Reporter said that's the kind of pass that pushed him down to 85th, a sideline throw that has to get there fast... and it didn't.

Again, Atenears was reporting this stuff on Frye really early, saying he even eavesdropped on assistants in Berea who were scared shitless after seeing him throw ducks all over the field.

If McCoy's arm wasn't an issue, wouldn't he have gone way before 85, with all of his "intangibles"? We're getting exactly what we thought we'd be getting: a smallish but hard-working winner without ideal arm strength.

If McCoy doesn't impress, we'll consider taking a QB high next year. And next year's class is widely considered to be better than the last one. So it's not really a big deal.

Because of work I'll be doing for a draft site this fall, I'll be watching a lot of Ryan Mallett (Arkansas), Taylor Potts (Texas Tech), Nick Foles (Arizona), Case Keenum (Houston), Ricky Stanzi (Iowa), and Russell Wilson (NC State).

Chances are I'll be pimping one of those guys next spring.
