Sam Amick (SI) hated the Thompson pick, downgraded us to a B- off it. PBT had it as one of the three biggest surprises of the draft. I'm not saying it might not end well... just putting it in perspective that on a national scale it was seen as a big surprise.

We'll hear a lot that we should've taken Derrick Williams and Brandon Knight.

I am beginning to love the pick, and I'll elaborate at some point ...but for now, guess who was the only player to absolutely dominate and shut down Williams last season?

Scott seems to like the pick very much and indicated that he pushed for Thompson because he knew the Cavs had to get tougher on defense. 27th ranked defense really sucks. Injuries to the front line may have contributed but we were worse then 27th guarding against the wing and 3 pointers.

Maybe after they finish tweaking the roster and add a wing player that can score people may warm up to the pick.

I could see that. Cavs say they're a long way from complete... I could see a 2 and a 3 coming in via trade or free agency. I think part of the issue is that you can only be so young and still win. Unless you're OKC, a total anomaly.
