The Cleveland Cavaliers How will the Cavs rebuild after Queen James betrayal?

So, the thug-league #NBA is on again. But the inmates ( @KingJames & @CP3 ) are still running the asylum.

Why not just contract the NBA to 6-10 big market teams where all the great players want to play, and let them do their thing?

The NBA is a joke.

Yep, the new CBA just made it easier for big name players to leave teams instead of harder.

The NBA is like a superadvanced form of dodgeball, where the gym teacher randomly picks his favorite students to be his captains.

I just don't understand the mentality of wanting to team up like that.

I mean, did anyone REALLY enjoy it when the 3 or 4 best kids on the playground teamed up and simply smashed the other guys? No, usually they wanted to go head to head against the other good guy and try to beat him.

And, ironically, did any of these scared little girls actually watch what happened in last year's finals?

Oh well, the one silver lining here would be that maybe the New York team would be "super" enough to continue to deny LBJ a championship.

Even more reason to stop watching the NBA....the rich get richer and teams like the Cavs get the shaft. David Stern is a worm.

I agree SoCal...The NBA is about sales and marketing...not about sportsmanship. David Stern is single handedly ruining the league with his greed....BTW...I dont miss the NBA.

Cavs owner wanted trade blocked
Yahoo! Sports Staff

Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert called the New Orleans Hornets’ proposed trade of Chris Paul to the Los Angeles Lakers a “travesty,” and urged NBA commissioner David Stern to put the deal to a vote of the league’s 29 owners in an email obtained by Yahoo! Sports. Gilbert sent the email to Stern, deputy commissioner Adam Silver and a handful of Gilbert’s ownership peers on Thursday.

Free-agent buzz: Warriors pursue Jordan Dec 9, 2011
NBA free agency and trade tracker Dec 8, 2011

The following is the email in its entirety:

Commissioner,

It would be a travesty to allow the Lakers to acquire Chris Paul in the apparent trade being discussed.

This trade should go to a vote of the 29 owners of the Hornets.

Over the next three seasons this deal would save the Lakers approximately $20 million in salaries and approximately $21 million in luxury taxes. That $21 million goes to non-taxpaying teams and to fund revenue sharing.

I cannot remember ever seeing a trade where a team got by far the best player in the trade and saved over $40 million in the process. And it doesn’t appear that they would give up any draft picks, which might allow to later make a trade for Dwight Howard. (They would also get a large trade exception that would help them improve their team and/or eventually trade for Howard.) When the Lakers got Pau Gasol (at the time considered an extremely lopsided trade) they took on tens of millions in additional salary and luxury tax and they gave up a number of prospects (one in Marc Gasol who may become a max-salary player).

I just don’t see how we can allow this trade to happen.

I know the vast majority of owners feel the same way that I do.

When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

Dan G.

An NBA spokesman said owners “didn’t kill the deal,” instead citing “basketball reasons,” for why the league office blocked the trade.

F*%K the NBA....just contract the league to major market teams (LA, NY, Chic....etc). Then they can sign all the superstars.

The NBA is a joke, I hope it snowballs hard and Stern loses his job. He's been the worst commisioner in sport for a while now. (Was tied with Bud Selig, IMO)

I think we will have things to be excited about that we lacked last year and we have some real facepalm moments just like last year.
It's going to be tough.

I question why they even have a draft in the NBA. All players should just enter the league as fully vested free agents. They can then freely sign with whatever dream team they wish. That will quickly lead to the demise of many small market teams which would force them to ultimately deal with this crap set-up we have presently.

This ongoing notion of a player establishing him or herself as elite only to flee to the major market team of their choice is a disaster.
