Default Tribe lands ace pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez

Traded away top 2 pitching prospects Alex White and Drew Pomeranz. Wish we could've got a productive bat instead. Pitching hasn't really been the problem.

Was thinking the same thing nmills, wish we could have gotten Hunter Pence. This is a pretty steep price for Jimenez, but hopefully he can find his old form soon and help the starting staff. As they say, pitching and defense wins championships..... GOOOOO TRIBE!!!

I'm calling it now. Jimenez regains top form after finally recovering from a hand injury ...Tribe surprises many and storm to the World Series.

It will be until the bats wake up.

late to the party, but i hate the trade. we build depth on the farm only to blow it the first chance we get, and we even blow it on an NL pitcher who doesn't solve our biggest problem. edit: look for pomeranz to be beastly good in two years, which would be when the indians will more than likely have a team that's actually ready to compete instead of the rag-tag group we've got out there this year.

on the positive side, we did manage to get rid of orlando cabrera, which is great.

I'm liking the trade more now. He's signed thru 2013, so we have him for 2 more years after this season. We gave up 2 top prospects, but will probably get atleast 1 back if he's traded in 2013, which is likely. He's got a friendly contract (8-10 million) so we still have room to work next year if were contending agian.

What I think nmills was saying is (and he can correct me if I'm wrong):

Before Jimenez's current contract is up, most likely the last year of it, the Indians will probably trade him because they can't afford his new salary. So they will probably trade him away in his last year (2013) of the current contract and get a stud pitching prospect (or 2) back in return from the team they trade him too. I don't think he was talking about getting back one of the 2 pitching prospects we gave up for Jimenez, unless they trade him back to the Rockies.

We traded our two top pitching prospects for this?!?! We should have traded Chris Wickman Burowski(sp.) Perez even up! Either one of them knows how to throw a strike!!! What a joke!!!

Next time your jerking don't use your knees....going, going, going, over your head

Just messing with ya man

For some reality, we just played the best offensive team in baseball in their ballpark and lost by a run.

Ubaldo is our's for two more years, try to give him more than 5 innings before throwing him to the sharks.

Should we of won? Yes
Did Jimenez look like an Ace? No
Is it time to jump off a bridge? Maybe if we lose tonight

Oh and it was 105 degrees, 100% favorable to the batter. Which is why our offense actually looked good the first couple innings.
