Default Tribe daily game recap thread - 2010

mark buerhle absolutely handled the tribe today, and jake westbrook looked like a guy who hasn't pitched in a year.

buerhle surrendered a mere three hits in seven innings of work, while westbrook left the bases loaded in the fourth, though aaron laffey did a commendable job of limiting the damage by holding the white sox to a single run despite being handed the ball with no outs.

westbrook threw four wild pitches, though at least three of them could have been handled by rookie catcher lou marson, who did make a nice play to throw out mark teahen at second on a steal attempt.

there was very little positive action for the tribe in this game. westbrook got positively handled, starting with a monster shot by paul konerko in the second that the indians couldn't even dream of matching. buerhle shut the erie warriors down in the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh, during which he allowed no hits and, i believe, no baserunners.

don't be mislead by travis hafner getting a hit, either. it was a complete bloop single that fell in front of juan pierre. in each other at bat, pronk looked like shit. though he made contact, everything was an easy fly ball.

these guys don't look too fuckin' good.

Pronk's done isn't he? I'll admit I've been least interesting in following the Tribe of the three beloved franchises in recent years, but I don't have any confidence this guy is going to regain his prior form. Sad really.

Also, we should not have any expectations when we trot out Jake as our opening day starter. Its going to be a long, long year.

yeah, westbrook as your ace is a white flag from the start, but i'd hoped that manny acta did it to take the pressure off carmona, who could be a dominant starter if he doesn't fold under pressure like he did against boston.

either way, a long year, indeed.

I really couldn't believe it when I heard Westbrook was starting. Had been hearing rave reviews about Carmona. It's a looooooooooong season, hopefully these youngs guys can pull it together and confidence will enable them to over-achieve.

Watching the Tribe right now on WGN against the Sox. Down 3-0 in the 4th.

The Tribe win 5-3. Fausto pitched pretty good. I like how Acta is using the young guys like Laporta, Brantley,Valbuena, etc.

Tribe loses 5-2 today against the Tigers. Jhonny "with an H" Peralta, had an error today that lead to some runs for Detroit. The Indians are now 2-2.

Indians get a 7-1 lead, promptly blow it and lose 9-8. They are now 2-4.

Indians lose 4-2 in 10 innings. Can anyone in the bullpen step up and get people out? Chris Perez is pouring gas on the fire, he is not a stopper, who's next????

Tribe's record is now 2-5, ugh!
