The Pen: Week 10 Standings & Summaries The Pen: Week 10 Standings & Summaries WOOF PACK I: BrownOut 134 Port City Blazers 93 BrownOut went with a triple pronged approach with 43 points from Tom Brady, 33 from Calvin Johnson and 21 for Jermaine Gresham. Evidently, this was the right way to do it as they won and improved to 3-7. The Port City Blazers had a 28 point performance from Eli Manning and a 23 point effort from Chris Johnson nullified by Antonio Gates on a bye, Garrett Hartley on a bye and the Charger Defense on a bye. Consequently, they lost their second consecutive game to fall to 5-5. It'll be interesting to see what lies ahead for these 2 talented rosters. Jax Pumpkin Heads 131 Comets 108 Matt Schaub's 30 points and Brandon Lloyd's 27 helped spark the Jax Pumpkin Heads to victory. Also helping the cause was 4 other teammates scored in double figures. ThePumpkin Heads improved to 7-3 and retained sole possession of 2nd place. The Comets had a couple stars of their own as Seattle's Mike Williams led with 30 points and LeSean McCoy assisted with 20 points. Even though it wasn't enough for a win, the Comets are in a good position at 5-5 if they can string together some wins down the stretch. FBrulz 121 Team DangeRuss 92 The venue was set at home for Team DangeRuss to extend their winning streak to 3 games. In sticking with the plan, DangeRuss was all excited to take the field and warmup to the heavy metal adrenaline sounds of Metallica and Pearl Jam. Nobody is certain what happened but somebody put in a CD of the Go Go's; and everything unravelled from there. FBrulz showed up with a game plan centered around Ben Roethlisberger at the exchange value of 37 points. LT and Anquan Boldin also contributed 16 points apiece while Jeremy Maclin added 18 more as they improved to 4-6. Jamaal Charles scored 23 points for DangeRuss as they came up short. Things looked to be heading in the right direction when someone found the CD case for Metallica and handed it to Team Owner Riffer X. That ended abruptly when he opened it up it only to learn he was holding Bananarama's Greatest Hits. At that point Riffer was overheard saying, "Someone's gonna get hurt!" As if it couldn't get any more depressing for DangeRuss. When someone asked where that CD disappeared to - the song playing over the stadium PA was "Our Lips are Sealed." They better be! Cleveland Crennels 151 Brady Backers 126 The Cleveland Crennels are very BIG on the importance of the Offensive Coordinator. There's a growing rumor they have Lindy Infante calling plays for Michael Vick. 62 points later, we're not so sure that's just a rumor. Then they had Kowshon Moreno adding 29 points and 4 other starters scoring double digits. The Crennels won this high scoring shootout to improve to 6-4. The Brady Backers weren't any slouches either on offense. They received 34 points from Andre Johnson and had 6 other starters in double digits. Unfortunately for the Brady Backers they still dropped to 3-7. WV Hoopies 94 Hammertime 91 The WV Hoopies were the beneficiaries of a well balanced scoring attack as they had 5 starters in double digits. Ochocinco led their scoring with 21 points and it provided the winning edge by the slimmest of margins. Mike Wallace was willing to lead Hammertime to victory with 38 points but they chose not to start anyone with a pulse at one of their WR spots and Defense. It continues to be difficult for teams to win starting players on bye weeks. The WV Hoopies improved to 6-4 while Hammertime is now 5-5. Drink Beer 138 Thaaktown 129 Drink Beer won sportin Kyle Orton and his 35 points and Frank Gore's 23. Thaaktown looked like they would have won this matchup rather easily because Dwayne Bowe gave them 48 points, Jones Drew added 31and Joe Flacco tossed in 25. But Thaaktown treated Drink Beer to happy hour specials by starting DeAngelo Williams who was out injured again and Mason Crosby who was on the bye week. Drink Beer is now 9-1 and Thaaktown fell to 4-6. You hire Troy Smith on game day to remind America the kid's a winner and watch him score 26 points. You also keep Roddy White in your starting lineup even if Yahoo says he's questionable; because he's a football player. That led to 42 points. Then you have to hope others step up like Steven Jackson did with 28 points, Brandon Lloyd did with 27 points and Danny Amendola did with 19 points. If those players didn't step up - Golfer 704u had 31 points from Jones-Drew, 26 points from Antony Fasano, and 25 points from Joe Flacco and 20 points from LeSean McCoy. Practice Squad needed this win to become 5-5 and to stay alive for playoff eligibility. Meanwhile, Golfer doesn't feel the need to defend scoring 152 points with any second guessing. If anything, he can smile and remind others what it took to top him only once in 10 weeks. BIG Dawgs 107 Waiting for Noodles 92 The BIG Dawgs extended their winning streak to 2 as they improved to 4-6. Mike Thomas led the charge with 34 points as Eli Manning tossed 28 points on the scoreboard as well. Tom Brady countered with 43 points and Ochocinco chipped in 21 for Waiting for Noodles. However, it wasn't enough to overcome a sum of 0 points from the following starters on the bye week: Darren McFadden, Marques Colston and the Saints Defense. Waiting for Noodles dropped to 7-3 while they are waiting for bye weeks to go bye bye. BIG Dawg's Head Coach Hiway Gal has had a refreshing attitude that has been conducive to winning. We got the sense the employees of the home stadium really appreciate her. They were playing a classic song over the loud speakers by Blackfoot called "Highway Song" as the Big Dawgs and their Gatorade soaked Head Coach were departing for the locker room. WarrenDawg 165 Dirty Dawgs 107 The WarrenDawg was a score'n hog in this matchup This was epitomized by Michael Vick's 62 points and Andre Johnson's 34 points. The Dirty Dawgs went down swinging as Calvin Johnson had 33 points and Frank Gore generated 23 more. What hurt them in this matchup was Garrett Hartley, Kevin Kolb and the Steeler Defense combined for -1 point. WarrenDawg improved to 5-5 while the Dirty Dawgs dropped to 6-4. Both teams look excited to make a run at the playoffs the rest of the way. SMWHREOVRDWAYNEBOWE 172 Ramrods 156 SMWHREOVRDWAYNEBOW found a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow named Dwayne Bowe in the form of 48 points. Staying right on that yellow brick road the Tin Man (Fred Jackson) ran into, around and through a bunch of courageous Lions for 37 more points. Every time he scored, you could hear the 70s band America over the loud speakers, "Oz never did give nothing to the Tin Man, that he didn't, didn't already have..." Even the little mascot Toto wanted to score points on Ramrods but he was kept over need the cheerleaders for safety and belly rubs. Mike Wallace and Matt Ryan scored 38 and 35 points for the scoring machine Ramrods brought to Kansas. Don't kid yourself - it was storming so many points that electricity on the scoreboard was lost among other things. Poor Ramrods still wants to make sure the electricians weren't direct descendants of the Wicked Witch of the West. He was so calm in our post game interview that we treated him for shock. After telling us something just wasn't adding up, he just kept repeating: "there's no place like home." On his behalf, his team scored 300 points in the last 2 weeks and lost both matchups. Ouch! That said, look where the total points volume has Ramrods positioned for potential tie breakers ahead. Meanwhile, the 3 game winning streak improved SMWHREOVRDWAYNEBOWE to 3-7 while Ramrods are looking for elbow room at 5-5. WachuTlknBoutHillis 105 BernietheKid 80 WachuTlknBoutHillis improved to 5-5 thanks in large to a winning effort of 29 points by Knowshon Moreno that was supported by 17 points apiece from DeSean Jackson and Mike Goodson. BernietheKid brought the same guns to this matchup that he used last week; but once David Garrard's gun scored 33 points - they ran out of ammunition. BernietheKid dropped to 4-5. However, both teams are alive and well for a run at the playoffs from here on out. Bulldogs 141 RPrepublic 85 Leading the Bulldogs to a victory and a 5-5 record was Matt Cassel with 50 points. Then, the dynamic duo of Jamaal Charles and Chris Johnson contributed 23 points apiece to clinch the W. RPrepublic made some nice roster changes this week and it benefitted as Colt McCoy scored 15, Ahmad Bradshaw added 19, Johnny Knox put up 14 and Benjamin Watson cleaned up with 12 points. It was a pretty well balanced approach where the only problem they had was the schedule put an opponent with a hot offense in front of them. RPrepublic dropped to 2-8 but they might have found some winning combinations and chemistry for a good stretch run here. Stay tuned...
