Default True Grit

I'm not normally into westerns--and even less so into movie remakes--but the idea of the Coens, and Jeff Bridges, and Matt Damon, and Josh Brolin...the trailers make me all tingly on the inside:

I like Jeff Bridges in the part of The Duke.. The Duke is a legend and this movie is a classic..I like this because Jeff Bridges will make this HIS OWN role and not just try to duplicate what the Duke did..so it should be a fresh take on a classic..

Absolutely, you can already tell from the trailer that he has a different take on the character and not simply trying to emulate the Duke.

That's what bothered me about the Superman movie that came out a few years ago, Brandon Routh looked the part of Superman, but he wasn't playing Superman, he was playing Christopher Reeve playing Superman.

If having The Dude as my AV for a long time doesn't prove it, I'm a huge fan of both Bridges and The Coen Bros'. I am looking forward to this movie. I think they have really hit their stride as filmmakers since No Country For Old Men. This is due to be excellent, IMO.

We had a pretty good draft, and I'd like to start seeing some results.
Fans already looking to next year and I don't blame them.
I think we will have things to be excited about that we lacked last year and we have some real facepalm moments just like last year.
It's going to be tough.
We aren't Barking Hard for nothing.

Anyone who sees the original coming on..please post it here. Anytime they do a sequel or a remake.. The original generally gets some airtime. I want my wife to see the original so I can convince her to see this one with me.. She did not grow up in the U.S. so really does not "get" westerns.. I may have to just go lone soldier on this one.

Saw it tonight--terrific movie. Actually, my initial reaction was, "Well, it was good, but it was no 'No Country for Old Men.'" As I drove home, I realized that a) My initial reaction was wrong, and that it was a really good movie; and b) Why I love the Coens: they can make a really good movie and it still not be their best work.

See it, and go see it in the theatre--it's one of those movies where you need a big screen to appreciate the landscape.

Dennis
Also, I'm pretty sure that even when he's sleeping or in the bathroom, Jeff Bridges is cooler than any of us could ever hope to be.

Bridges is great and as you'll hear/see the young female actress is fantastic. I really liked the movie.

Have to give Matt Damon props too. He does a great job and his classic line about the sun getting in "your eyes. Or should I say.... your EYE?" is priceless.
