SO not sure why I am posting this other than I am a little bored and this one REALLY drives me nuts.

Has anyone seen the new freecreditscore.com comercial? I won't do the lyrics verbatim here, but to summarize.

Parents take their daughter back to college. Give her a credit card that is in their name to only buy books and supplies with. Daughter goes on to spend it on pizza for her whole dorm, tons of make up, and a spring break trip to mexico. and "the folks didn't know" because they didn't go to freecreditscore.com.


REALLY??? REALLLY????

Those "folks" got exactly what they deserved then. If they gave their daughter a credit card that was in thier name and weren't checking the balance on it every month. They they are fools, even if she promised to pay it back every month. even with that, it's in their name right? so it's not to thier address? so when she goes one month without paying a bill, they don't get some notification?

If you've allowed ANYONE to have a credit card that is taken out in YOUR name, and you don't keep track of how it's used, then your last worry is that you didn't go to freecreditscore.com to check your credit score.

It's this kind of thinking by people that creates even more problems with our economy than just the "big businesses" screwing people.

When I went to college I got a CC with a $1000 limit. I could have gotten another one if I wanted to, but I told my Dad and his advice was: "cut that shit up, it will only lead to trouble within 5 weeks."

Did I cut it up? No. Was he right? Yep. Took me a semester of beers to run that up to $1000.00 and another 6 mos to pay the bitch off. And Dad had no part in helping me, which allowed me to understand banking and credit.

All these pussies crying over the Wall Street boycott simply do not understand free markets and free enterprise. You can borrow and you can not borrow - nobody forced you to borrow.

There is another Obama spending plan set to his the House regarding "college loan relief." WTF - college loan relief? Really? More bailouts?

While I admit Obama did inherit a shit economy, he has done a worse job managing this debacle than the previous idiot. Obama and those who may follow him are fucking morons and I am sick of these election minded individuals. I would vote for Daffy Duck before Obama, but the GOP needs to offer something more.

Obama is one and done, but that doesn't mean we just fill a void.

Agree, I wish the GOP had better candidates to offer from. I will never understand the logic behind trying to spend our way out of debt that the current administration espouses. I thought the original purpose of the Occupy Wall Street movement was a protest against the bankers who ruined the economy and the prior and current administration has failed to prosecute?

I don't understand all the people wanting free hand outs for doing nothing and crying for "distribution of wealth"...Sounds a lot like the teachings of Karl Marx to me...If you want something work for it asshole, don't come to my door expecting me to give you something it took me years of hard work to get.

Sorry to get sidetracked a little, my opinion is the biggest problem in the country right now ifrom my neighbor on up to the POTUS s the inability of everyone to balance their checkbook, pay their bills on time, and live within their means. How fucking hard is that?

On the opposite end, I'm a fan of the All State commercials with that one dude who plays chaos, and he's hugging the side of this SUV and he is playing "the blind spot" , and the lady looks in her rear view mirror and he's there and gives a thumbs up and says "You're good!" she tries to switch lanes and gets in an accident.

Speaking from my own experiences...you're right Veg, no one forced me to borrow and no one is responsible for my actions and decisions but me. However, there are more and more people out there who are finding it harder and harder to "live within their means".

Over the past 4 years the prices of EVERYTHING have gone up, and not just a little. Gas is almost twice what it was 4 years ago which causes the prices of utilities, groceries, staples to go up. When you don't get any raises for 3-4 years, your income no longer manages to go as far as it did. Forget being able to save some for emergencies.

And God forbid if you actually have an emergency (i.e. veterinary bills, vehicle repairs, household repairs, etc) and you are now wiped out.

I'm grateful for the job I have and the benefits it provides. Most people don't have it as good as I do. But I also don't have the option of just going out and finding something else 'cause there just isn't much out there. And it costs too much to completely relocate and completely re-construct your life.

Don't get me wrong...I'm not asking for a bail out. I'm tired of paying for other folks to file bankruptcy over and over again so they can bail out on their creditors while I pay my bills as best I can.

I don't agree with Obama's spending plans. I have two stimulus (remember those??) projects that have significant amounts of money left on them. They were completed on-time and way below budget. But I MUST spend the money. However I can, but within the federal rules. I HAVE to spend it. This money was supposed to put people to work. And it did...for about 6-8 months. And now we're just wasting the rest of the money. On stupid shit. So, no, the spending plans aren't working.

But! Wall Street needs to be responsible for their wreckless gambling on mortgages and the market. Why should I have to pay for the losses those folks suffered trying to make more profit? If I have a business and I take a risk and lose my ass, I don't expect my customers to pay me because I was stupid. I need to fix my problems, not someone else. The government bail-outs of Wall Street and the auto industry are/were disgusting...and these businesses learned nothing and charge us all more for it.
