PC Gaming anti piracy going too far?
So, I'm in love with the Elder Scrolls games on pc, Morrowind hooked me, Oblivion I wound up playing for 5 straight years near non-stop, and Skyrim was just released.
I stood in line in the freezing cold to buy my copy at the midnight release, already had pre-paid just to make sure I got my copy.
Bought the full retail package, took it home, opened it, sure enough there was my disk, there was a code, popped that disk in my pc and.....
Steam installer popped up.
So I install it off the disk.
Old version, so I've got to wait for it to update.
Sign up for a Steam account.
Enter the code for my game.
Wait for verification.
And then....
Wait a day for the damn thing to download AFTER I thought I was getting a retail disk.
I'm sorry, but I love Bethseda's Elder Scroll games and have always bought retail just to have the disk so I can install and play without internet.
Really?
Total bullshit.
There should AT LEAST be something on the retail box that says "No disk included, download code for valid Steam purchase included inside" or something like that.
It's crap like this, Sony's rootkits and Starburn type DRM that is driving honest gamers away from the pc in droves.
Shame on you Bethseda, I thought you were better than this.
