Could be worse for him:

Jones will keep his $825,000 signing bonus. The Giants are not obligated to pay him his base salary but, as this report states, the Giants will "probably take care of him in some form or fashion."

The positive I look at is I finally look at a front office that I think is competent and that has a solid scouting staff that are looking at the cuts and talking to the coaches.

Bottom line is the coaching staff and the player personnel guys got to be on the same page when it comes to looking at and bringing in guys who have been released.

I think there is a good enough relationship between the front office and the coaches where they can talk and decide what's best for the team. Not like RAC and Savage when Savage would bring in people the coaches didn't want or he would bring in a guy and not even talk to the coaches about him. then RAC would just sit them on the bench.

I think we have a good line of communications with this group and they will work together and bring in a guy if both think it's better for the team.

They had to waive him to give someone else his roster spot, just like Mangini did with Don Carey last year.

Sheets tore his Achilles. Hopefully, he'll make a quick recovery.

The Dolphins are going to have major turnover in their RB corps next year. Ronnie Brown will be a free agent, and Ricky Williams is expected to retire. Sheets would have had a nice opportunity to prove he should be part of the team's long-term plans. But like James Davis last year, the injury's going to push Sheets down the depth chart.
