My skinny on Crable is that he was never an instinctive guy. I was a little disappointed he turned the Buckeyes down but it wasn't a crushing loss by any means. He had a knock of maybe not being the most savvy guy around coming out of Massillon.

He also isn't particularly quick or that fast in space, which seems to be a Michigan defensive staple the last few years. They just don't have the speed from the supposed playmakers.

Crable was more of a physical freak coming out of high school almost along the lines of an Alonzo Spellman but never really progressed much more. Alex Hall would probably make a better pro to be honest.

Yeah, one of the ugliest plays last fall was when Michigan LB Obi Ezeh got beat by Iowa TE Tony Moeaki, then couldn't catch up as the tight end ambled down the field. It was an embarrassing display of marginal speed, and it's why Ezeh will be very limited scheme-wise at the next level (probably a two down 3-4 inside backer).

Crable reminds me a lot of Alex Hall. One dimensional and stiff.

If New England didn't have the faith to turn him into a solid OLB, then I think that's saying something.

Crable was never good against the run, and despite being highly touted out of High School he disappointed in college until his last season, IMO.

I was never a fan of him at UM.

Ouch.

Quote:
The Raiders signing of quarterback Colt Brennan Saturday means they’re not sure if Bruce Gradkowski and Charlie Frye will be healthy enough to face Dallas in the first preseason game and don’t want to go into it with only two quarterbacks.

Brennan arrived for the afternoon practice and spent most of the session getting a cram course on the offense from Ted Tollner, the team’s passing game coordinator last year and still listed that way even though the Raiders brought in a new offensive coordinator in Hue Jackson.

The Raiders looked at both Brennan and undrafted free agent quarterback Jevon Snead of Missississpi, before determining Brennan to be the better option.

I went to HS with Crable at Massillon. He chose UM because of playing time. I'll talk to a few people and get the skinny(no pun intended) on him.
