Young and Lienert both drafted the same year.. Young looks the part..Has really improved his game and looked more comfortable in the pocket than I have ever seen him.. Made some very nice throws.. He got rid of the ball when nothing was there. Lienart looked lost in the face of the blitz.. It's like he did not even recognize it was coming. He looked like a 2nd year guy not a 5th year guy.. DA threw 1 nice deep pass I saw.. then reverted into the DA (dogs ass) we all know chucking the ball all over the place with noncatchable passes.. I was thinking of taking Larry Fitgerald with the 2nd pick in my keeper league draft.. but I'm afraid these guys can't get the ball there..So I may go QB or RB with my first pick instead.. Nearly all the other top recievers have been "kept" but for larry ..buy I may have to pass anyway.. It's sickening. I actually feel bad for him on this team with no one to get him the ball.

That actually made me snort Diet Coke through my nose. It's like when you read a script you wrote five years ago and laugh at a line you forgot. Yeah, it's creative masturbation, but getting off is getting off.
I was afraid you might still be digging the dried up "yack" out of your keyboard.

Was also reasonably certain your wife probably already tossed your soiled shorts.

Man, he comes off like a 'tard when he talks, though.
I know a reporter who has been in the Titans locker room and has interviewed VY. Says VY gets cleaned up A LOT in print just to be understandable and comes across as generally being as dumb as he sounds.

Some guys are born to do certain things and when they are in the right situation, their talent shines. He seems to have born to play football -- and that's pretty much it.

Default Orangenotred

AHHHH!!! It is KILLING me that I can't get on that Cards board to use my special moniker of Orangenotred!

So much good DA trolling being left undone. I can only hope Lum is out there somewhere telling Cardinals Nation that they've found their QB savior but have yet to recognize his greatness.

Unfortunately, I'm kind of stuck with this story line because I took LFitz in my fantasy draft. Couldn't pass him up at the end of the 2nd round, could I?

(For you FFL draft junkies: I had #1 pick and took Brees, then Fitz and Calvin Johnson at 2 and 3. Got Jahvid Best and Jonathan Stewart 4/5 then Carlson and MIN DST 6/7. Finished with the Browns run of Hardesty at 8, Mike Williams at 9 (thanks to mz's pimping), MoMass at 10 and Dawson at 11. My keepers were Shonne Greene and Eli Manning. I'm pretty happy with it, actually. Nice young backs and stud WRs with some potental at WR as backup.)

Flugel called it way back in 2008. All Vince does is win. Not always pretty, but he wins. I'm always interested in second chances for people and it makes life fun to see people take advantage of it. Vince has always gotten it done on the field - at times. I'd love nothing better than to see him kick it into high gear and help the Titans take that division.

Leinhart - I just don't know what it is with this guy. He looks the part. He has the tools. He just isn't smart enough for the pro game. He never looks crisp or confident. There is always a dumb play lurking. He
may need some Pete Carroll love or something.

And dumbass me takes Fitzgerald in the 3rd round of my keeper league, which was basically the 20th pick in the draft because some people kept 2 instead of 4 keepers. I'm gonna try and package him in a trade. The Cards won't get him the ball. I'm not EVEN going to try and talk myself into the "maybe DA catches lightening in a bottle" trap. But he may beat out Mr. Heisman.

I have to eat some crow on Young. I never thought he could drop back and look like a QB in the pocket. He looked really good last night doing that.

Thanks for remembering that Alo! And Riff I appreciate your comments in the next reply! I've always been a big fan of the unique guys so I've gotten a ton of them wrong along the way. The night he beat USC in their front yard when a former NFL DC was throwing everything he could at VY (with the talent FAVORED to win the National Championship) - I was convinced. He was making split second decisions all night as I was hearing Dan Fouts saying over and over this kid is the REAL deal. Can you get a better understanding of what's required for the NFL QB position than Dan Fouts? VY was only a JUNIOR which critics always want to forget rather conveniently. Even though college passer ratings do not equate to the NFL passer ratings - he was the #1 rated passer in DI football in spite of all those saying he's just a RB.

In a bottom line league: VY is 26-13 as a starter when his 1st 2 starting WRs were Drew Bennett and Bobby Wade from a capped out mess that deserved to draft 3rd overall. After Kerry Collins led them to 0-5 in 2006, VY led them to 8 wins of the last 11 games and erased 7 2nd half deficits in the process. And guess what all his critics had to say about the rookie? "Oh yaaa? Look at his passer ratings." Oh geee, I almost forgot how much better they looked with Kerry Collins sporting a 43 passer rating with all that wonderful surrounding talent the first 5 weeks of 06.

Interesting observation for me as I only watched the one decent DA drive.

His best pass was an INTERMEDIATE route.

His worst passes all required SHORT, ACCURATE throws.

He is the same thing he always was: good intermediate passer and horrid short passer. Where this notion that he throws a great LONG ball is beyond me. He throws a good long ball, but where he excelled was in the 15 to 25 yard passing game. Simply too bad he can't throw short. Its his achilles heel.

You can talk about Vince Young's inability to speak right and while he is not dumb as a stump Bernie cant talk worth a damn either.
I have said it before some of the best people in there respective fields were just born to do it.
This is where for example Quinn could be a good coach because he is a student,he just cant play, hence the term "those who can't, teach."

I actually agree with most of that, Dan. Or mostly agree. Or something.

Young is a smooth and instinctive athlete and a much better passer than I figured him for. I also doubt he's as dumb as he tests (the famous 6) or talks (he just sounds like a moron)... but I doubt he's real bright. And that's certainly held him back at the NFL. Slowed his progress.

Again... there's a reason GMs do look at Wonderlic scores and personal interviews and chalkboard work with QBs. It's a position that requires a ton of book learning, a quick mind on the field, and the ability to communicate with and lead teammates.

You can't always get everything you want, and that's kind of the case with Young. You get some amazing athletic ability and a guy who probably plays smarter than he is because he has "it." But you don't get a guy who devours playbooks and teaches those around him, or can articulate himself well to his teammates.

I happen to value that a ton because I see quarterbacks as something more than position players. But Young is winning me over on a lot of other counts.
