NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP)—Arizona coach Ken Whisenhunt says he will start Derek Anderson(notes) on Saturday night when the Cardinals visit the Chicago Bears for their third preseason game. Anderson was told on Thursday morning that he would be working with the first-team offense. Whisenhunt says Anderson will work in the first quarter and that Matt Leinart(notes) will enter the game. The coach says it’s a flip of how they played the quarterbacks in Monday night’s 24-10 loss at Tennessee. Asked what he’s looking for with the change, Whisenhunt says, “first downs.” Leinart, the 10th overall pick in the 2006 draft, started for Arizona on Monday and went three-and-out in all three of his series. Derek Anderson to start for Cardinals at Chicago - NFL - Yahoo! Sports My guess on the next former first round QB to lose their starting job is still Alex Smith. |

Shep might have a tough football season if Alex Smith loses his job (which I predict he does) and the Jets have to yank Sanchez (which I think they will need to this seaosn). That would make 3 of his darling QBs losing their starter jobs.

Smith isn't anywhere close to losing his job. Where'd that come from? Or are you just predicting his eventual demise? And the Jets yanking Sanchez? Why? You seem to be living in a world where teams DON'T want to develop long-term franchise quarterbacks. I don't get it. Leinart? What can I say. I keep pulling for him but it doesn't look real good. |

Seattle wants him WHY??? Poor Larry.. I think if DA plays he can have a decent fantasy ball cuz DA will thow into double coverage and allow larry to make plays down the field.. The other side of that..AZ will only win 2 game this year because DA will throw 30 pics. Part of me is wondering if the Bears lay down this week, let DA look all world just to screw over the Cardinals ha ha ha joking of course.. Bears wouldn't do that..besides..DA would probably still suck it up.

Oh, I am not getting excited Shep. I can't image you'd really take offense to those guys being your darlings (as in guys you really like and talk up). I am predicting Smith does at some point this year (my guess after week 5). Because he has done nothing in pre-season really to instill confidence, and neither did he last season, as I have broken down multiple times. And yes, there already was rumblings that his job could be in danger for this season. Sanchez, I am thinking it may happen as some point because the Jets are SB darlings and QB play is likely to be what holds them back. While some might get excited by Sanchez making a good throw to a TE (who then rumbles for 30 yards), on a PA bootleg, after the D has totally sold out on the run, I don't. I know what the QBR was agaisnt Cincy and IND in the playoffs. But I also watch the game and saw what actually happened. I saw nothing to make me believe he is going to take a big leap from the guy who threw 20 INTs to 12 TDs. And his pre season showing this season hasn't given any reason to believe otherwise either. I can only hope by the line of "You seem to be living in a world where teams DON'T want to develop long-term franchise quarterbacks. I don't get it." is only in reference to Sanchez. Cause they have been trying to develop Alex Smith for what, 4 going on 5 years now. |

But it's a weird time to call for Smith's job, coming off his breakthrough season with full love from the organization... and he was just 9 of 12 for 88 yards. I'm not sure I understand what's driving your hunger for his benching. You think Mark Sanchez is gonna get benched, too? It's just a little odd. Sounds like you want anybody I like to get benched? Well... there's that, I guess. |
